This week, the ongoing feud between Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky) and Dr. Anthony Fauci reached new heights as the Kentucky Republican called for Fauci to spend five years behind bars for lying to Congress earlier this year about whether his taxpayer-funded agency was involved in gain-of function-research.

The senator – who is also a doctor – has repeatedly asserted that Fauci, the director of the National Institute for Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIH) lied under oath in a May 11 hearing before Congress where he stated that NIH by no means funded gain-of-function research despite a top NIH official later recognizing that they did fund the controversial research.

“Fauci should go to prison for five years for lying to Congress. They [the DOJ] have prosecuted other people and they have selectively gone after Republicans, but in no way will they do anything about him lying,” Paul told Fox Business host Maria Bartiromo on Thursday.

Many people on social media didn’t feel five years is sufficient time for Fauci to repent for his apparent crime.

Others suggested that there were those that should do some time with him.

Paul explained that he did not have much confidence that the arrogant doctor who continues to compare himself to science itself would be properly investigated for his alleged crime.

“We’ve referred him to the Department of Justice, but then again, Merrick Garland is the one now going after parents that go to school board meetings so I don’t have a lot of hope that he’s actually going to be objectively looking at Fauci’s lying,” Paul explained.

In fact, a whistleblower provided documents to congressional Republicans last month that showed the federal agency was using counterterrorism resources to investigate parents interested in their children’s education.

Paul continued by suggesting that Fauci no longer deserves his high post and that he is guilty of other misinformation related to the COVID pandemic.

“He should be prosecuted for lying…at the very least he should be taken out of his position because I think he costs people lives through misinformation,” Paul stated. “Every time he tells people, ‘oh wear a cloth mask,’ he’s actually endangering people. If you’re around someone with COVID, you don’t want to wear a cloth mask because they don’t work.”

Fauci has been taking heat from a number of people disturbed by the lack of accountability of the nation’s supposed top doctor, including Fox News contributor Lara Logan who noted comments comparing him to a doctor in the Nazi regime.

“What you see on Dr. Fauci – this is what people say to me: that he doesn’t represent science to them. He represents Joseph Mengele. Dr. Josef Mengele, the Nazi doctor who did experiments on Jews during the Second World War and in the concentration camps,” Logan said on Monday night.

“Forget about the fact that she was being totally slanderous to me and as usual, had no idea what she was talking about, saying that it’s as benign as flu. When did ever influenza kill 770,000 Americans?” Fauci said in response to her statement.

“So not only is she being slanderous and disrespectful to so many people who were killed in the concentration camps by Dr. Mengele, but she absolutely has no idea what she’s talking about. She’s completely incorrect in everything she says,” Fauci said.
