Fox News host Tucker Carlson, who once described Chris Cuomo, as “the single dumbest person ever to perform on cable news,” is defending to some degree the now-suspended CNN anchor for putting family first, even when the family member is “loathsome.”
In his opening editorial on Tuesday evening, Carlson admitted that he relentlessly made fun of “buffoon” and “idiot” Cuomo, the hypocritical mask-shamer and ostentatious bodybuilder who is “incredibly self-righteous and false,” in part over staging a triumphant emergence from his basement after quarantining (but not really) because of a COVID-19 diagnosis.
CNN’s “dwarf king” (Carlson’s term) Jeff Zucker took Cuomo off the air when documents from New York’s attorney general revealed that the latter apparently served as his big brother’s spin doctor more than previously known amidst allegations of the politician’s sexual misconduct. Democrat Gov. Andrew Cuomo resigned from office in late August.
In this context, however, Carlson put his disdain for both Cuomo brothers aside during his opening monologue.
“Helping his brother is not the worst thing Chris Cuomo ever did,” Carlson declared. “In fact, it may have been the best thing he ever did. Not because Andrew Cuomo was a good person. He certainly wasn’t a good person. Andrew Cuomo was loathsome. But Andrew Cuomo was Chris Cuomo’s brother, and that’s what you do with brothers, even the loathsome ones. You help them when they need it. Period. It’s called loyalty.”
Carlson went on to condemn the “ruthless” careerist-first members of the corrupt corporate media. “Is there a single person at CNN or at any other left-wing network who would risk his job to help his own brother? No….they would betray anyone to get ahead…”
“When we tell you the media are corrupt, we just don’t mean politically. It’s much deeper than that. They don’t acknowledge the most important rules in life. Your first obligation is to your family. Your first obligation is not to the state; it’s not to a political party. It’s not to Jeff Zucker or some creepy billionairess at The Atlantic magazine. It’s not even to your own career.
“Your most basic obligation is to the people you are related to. When they need your help, no matter who they – are even if you’re the governor of a state, even if they’re horrible people – you help them anyway because it’s your family. Chris Cuomo may be an idiot – and he is – but he understands that. What a thing to be fired for.”

The Fox News host then tossed it to journalist Jason Whitlock, who agreed with Carlson’s assessment of familial ties. But Whitlock added an alternative take on the situation, suggesting that the Cuomo brothers are learning that “you can’t be woke enough” to satisfy what he described as Alphabet Mafia diversity activists.
“If they can take you out of a prominent spot like Chris Cuomo has, relatively prominent at CNN, you’ll get taken out when the opportunity arises and when they have your successor in place. And I believe that’s what’s going on with Chris Cuomo,” Whitlock claimed.
In September, Carlson predicted that Chris Cuomo would get fired after he himself was accused of sexual harassment by a former ABC News executive when they both worked at that network.

Carlson began the Tuesday night broadcast by wondering how “a man who could barely speak English wind up with a paying job on television? Some kind of weird affirmative action program for the illiterate?…It was kind of a performance art. A communicator wholly unable to communicate.”
Carlson also implied that CNN only took disciplinary action against Chris Cuomo when a negative article about the latter appeared in The Atlantic magazine, which signaled it was okay with the liberal establishment to throw the CNN host under the bus.
“At CNN, there is no penalty for falseness. The only thing you can’t do at CNN, the thing they will never tolerate, is displeasing the people in charge…if you cross them, you’re done. So this morning, when we saw The Atlantic magazine, we knew it was curtains for Chris Cuomo…in the world that Jeff Zucker lives in, The Atlantic makes the rules.”
That scenario, Carlson revealed, made him feel sorry, for the first time ever, for Chris Cuomo.
