DeSantis lays into media over Waukesha: Suspect with ‘anti-white animus’ committed ‘intentional act’

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis blasted the media in a press conference Tuesday where he criticized their coverage of the massacre that took place at a Waukesha, Wisconsin Christmas parade in recent weeks, and their refusal to address both the suspect and his motive.

DeSantis noted that the corporate media has characterized the attack as “an SUV [driving] into a parade of Christmas folks,” effectively taking all blame off of the alleged killer, Darrell Brooks without any mention of his criminal history.

“We’re seeing that right now in real-time with Waukesha, Wisconsin, in terms of what happened there. You will look at some of these corporate outlets and they will say that ‘an SUV drove into a parade of Christmas folks. You never actually hear the discussion about who committed this; what was the motivation?” the governor began.

“This guy was a career criminal let out on, didn’t really have any bail basically, should not have even been on the street, had clear, anti-white animus. And this was an intentional act,” DeSantis explained, “And it seems like, you know, for corporate press, they’re more apt to characterize a parent who goes to a school board meeting to protest bad policies as a domestic terrorist than somebody who intentionally rams an SUV into a crowd of innocent people.”

Brooks was released from jail in November where he was being held for allegedly assaulting his ex-girlfriend and running her over with the same SUV he drove through the parade.

The violent offender was released on just $1,000 bond, though his total rap sheet reportedly spreads 50 pages. Brooks is a clear beneficiary of bail reform by the radical left.

“So, you have at least six have died, you have many more that have been injured. I know many people are in the hospital. And so let’s just be clear, this was not a car just driving in. This was an attack by a felon who did that, who should not have been on the street and we’ll see what the actual motivation was. It very well may have been in response to what happened with Kyle Rittenhouse,” DeSantis asserted.

The Florida governor took another hit at the media, noting that if Brooks was angered by the Rittenhouse outcome, that his “view of Rittenhouse was colored by all these media lies.”

“He brought a rifle across state lines, that’s a lie. They said that the initial altercation with Jacob Blake, that Blake was unarmed, that’s a lie. They covered up Blake’s criminal history. And then they said that Rittenhouse shot, and first of all, when you’re self-defense, it doesn’t matter, you know, kind of what race, but they would say that he shot, most people didn’t know that he shot three white people. So, that’s what the media has been doing,” DeSantis stated.

The media has a habit of putting a target on law enforcement’s back, DeSantis told the press, adding that it was wrong and calling their campaign against police over the last two years an “absolute disgrace.”

“These lies have got to stop. And if it doesn’t fit your narrative, sweeping the facts under the rug is not doing the service that people deserve. It is what we expect, unfortunately, from a lot of these places, but it’s wrong,” the Florida governor maintained.

Brooks’ massacre resulted in the death of six people, including a child and injured more than 60.

DeSantis continued his press conference, pointing out the corporate media’s lies about the coronavirus over the last two years, running the gamut from fear-mongering to finger-pointing, to the intentional cover-up of the virus’ origins.

Despite the emergence of the new omicron variant, DeSantis promised not to impose mask mandates or lockdown orders of any kind in Florida. While the federal government continues to push heavy-handed mitigation responses that don’t work, the governor reminded the crowd that the definition of insanity is doing something over and over again, and expecting different results.

If mask and lockdown mandates didn’t work the first time around, they certainly won’t with an even milder variant.
