Author and Republican Senate candidate J.D. Vance made a thunderous proposal on Monday during the Ohio GOP Senate Forum, calling on Republicans to shut down the government until President Biden’s unconstitutional vaccine mandate is ended.

Vance admonished that Republicans should avoid giving Democrats a “bipartisan flag to wave around” like they ostensibly did with the left’s infrastructure bill. Instead, he’s urging the GOP to focus on the debt limit and use it to their advantage.

“We gave the Democrats a bipartisan flag to wave around Washington, DC that they are going to use to spend more money,” he contended.

“Now, what should we be doing? Right now, we have the Biden administration enforcing a vaccine mandate down people’s throats,” Vance remarked. “At the same time, we have a debt limit coming up. Instead of giving them a bipartisan flag to wave, we should shut down the government until the vaccine mandate ends.”

Those in attendance loudly applauded the idea.

“We keep on getting outplayed, so as long as we keep sending people to Washington to get outplayed by the Democrats, we’re going to keep losing our country,” he asserted.

He could well have been aiming his comments at Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell who pushed Republicans to approve Biden’s bloated $1.25 trillion infrastructure spending spree. He also caved to Democrats over raising the government’s debt ceiling and expanding its spending power.

Vance has previously spoken strongly against vaccine mandates, criticizing them as “the federal government’s attempt to bully and coerce citizens into choosing between their livelihood and their own bodily autonomy,” that “must be resisted.”

Do not comply with the mandates,” Vance posted to Twitter after Biden issued his federal vaccine mandate.

“Do not pay the government fines,” he tweeted. “Don’t allow yourself to be bullied & controlled. Only mass civil disobedience will save us from Joe Biden’s naked authoritarianism.”

Biden announced in September a federal vaccine mandate that the Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) would enforce. The order stipulated that all companies with more than 100 employees must either ensure they are all vaccinated or have them undergo weekly testing and wear masks while at work.

A company that violated the mandate could be fined $136,532 per offense.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit Court issued a temporary stay that blocked the mandate while it considered a permanent injunction.

“Because the petitions give cause to believe there are grave statutory and constitutional issues with the Mandate, the Mandate is hereby stayed pending further action by this court,” the ruling judges wrote.

Since that ruling took effect, OSHA has backed down from carrying out that order but the White House is still urging businesses to follow the mandate.

“Let me be very clear: our message to businesses right now is to move forward with measures that will make their workplaces safer and protect them and their workforces from COVID-19,” White House press secretary Jen Psaki declared at a press conference mid-November. “Nothing has changed.”
