One young, Romanian immigrant who moved to the United States to escape communism and a chance at a better life has a stark warning for the leftists who seek to employ communism in America– and that’s to learn from history or “nothing will save you.”

Bogdan Laurentiu, 34, moved from Romania to the United States with a friend in 2010, leaving family and friends behind in pursuit of a better life; but the recent populist embrace by radical left politicians and sympathizers of Marxist theories in the U.S. that are the root for communism has left Laurentiu concerned.

“I’m not saying that every system in the world is perfect, but to be in favor of communism, considering history and everything that has been documented throughout the years, it’s sad. It’s really sad,” the young man told Fox News.

Laurentiu said that it was “mind-blowing” that the U.S. is embracing communism in the year 2021.

“If we were going to succeed in America, we knew that we had to make a few sacrifices. We knew that we had to work hard, to be committed, in order to create life for ourselves. And we made some sacrifices, more than I can count, definitely more than I can remember and as I said, very grateful, very honored to be here and to have the opportunity to live in America,” Laurentiu detailed, calling America the “land of the free.”

The Romanian immigrant maintains “without a shadow of a doubt” that people all across the globe see America as a beacon of freedom and a beacon of hope.

“I just wish that view would be shared by more Americans,” Laurentiu told the outlet.

“If anybody would have told me before I came to America there would come a day when I would encounter or meet American citizens in favor of communism, I probably would have laughed in their face,” he said.

In the time that Laurentiu lived in Romania– about 24 years– he never heard one person speak positively about communism or how life was prior to 1989.

“This has been documented,” the young immigrant said of the hardships experienced living under a communist regime. “But when you talked to people about it and you tell them all those things, and the lived experience of people that lived under communism, and how life was there– no electricity, no heat, barely any gas, no cars, no nothing– you know, they tell you that you don’t know what you’re talking about, or your lived experiences don’t mean anything, or communism never worked because it wasn’t done right, or communism never worked because of American influence.”

The Romanian native explained that radical leftists think that they know better than survivors of communist regimes because they read “The Communist Manifesto,” by Karl Marx.

“Because they read a book, they have this imaginary utopia that they think that they can create, they think that they know better than the actual people that lived under communism,” he stated.

Laurentiu emphasized the importance of learning history and not just the history that suits a narrative saying, “We have to look at the whole point of it, or not at all.”

“I know a lot of immigrants who came here with literally nothing and within years they became successful,” he recounted, touting the American work ethic, and suggesting that Americans focus on all the things America has to offer with hard work and sacrifice instead of wanting everything on a silver platter.

“A lot of people are just woke because it’s trendy, because it’s popular … rather than having a little bit of critical thinking and acknowledging everything that this country is offering…The system is not perfect. I’ll be the first one to admit that. It’s not perfect. But if you put your mind to it, the impossible can happen,” Laurentiu told Fox News.

The young immigrant became interested in politics and social issues during the “Defund the Police” movement in America in 2020. It caused him to use a more critical eye when examining social and political issues.

Laurentiu eventually expanded on this and started a political TikTok account called “The Conservative Immigrant,” which has now garnered over 110,000 followers.
