The “exhausted” but “relentless” James Madison University Chemistry and Biochemistry Department apparently decided to follow the science, that is, the woke political science, in several online posts that bemoaned the Kyle Rittenhouse not-guilty verdict.
“The fight for justice is a fight for science,” the scholars claimed.
Separately, the official JMU Instagram page also reportedly posted a misleading and now-deleted video about a key fact in the case, a video which was obtained and preserved by Virginia GOP congressional candidate Tina Ramirez.
“The communications on James Madison University’s official Instagram account also briefly included a so-called ‘student takeover’ video in which a JMU student lamented the ‘murdering’ of ‘two beautiful Black lives’ – even though the jury agreed that Rittenhouse acted in self-defense and the two men he fatally shot were both White,” Fox News reported.
In the eyes of many, the corporate media stands accused of creating the implication that Rittenhouse shot persons of color as well as defaming the teenager with false narratives that could lead to libel/slander lawsuits.

On Twitter, the chemistry group got into the mix about the nationally watched Kenosha case by alluding to several other violent and racially charged incidents that have made headlines:
“Reminder: it is hard to focus on science if you are worried you might be legally shot or run over at a protest. It is hard to focus on science if you are worried your loved ones might be killed getting Skittles, or selling cigarettes, or playing with a toy gun, or sitting in their apartment, or jogging, or wearing a hoodie. It’s hard to focus on science if you’re worried you might get deported or if your human rights depend on the outcome of an election. The fight for justice *is* a fight for science,” tweets read.
“Yes, we are exhausted, but some people do not have the privilege of bowing out. So, we must be relentless in our pursuit of a just and equitable society.”

Equating science with social justice also seems, in general, to fit with recent pronouncements by some public health authorities from the CDC on down that racism is a public health threat or crisis.
The chemistry department shared a video from an emotional NBC Peacock host Amber Ruffin who claimed that the Rittenhouse acquittal reaffirms that the judicial system “is blatantly and obviously stacked against people of color” even though, again, the shooter and the men shot were white.
She also smeared the presiding judge as racist while bringing up the recurring liberal talking point that “crossing state lines” by a relatively few miles is apparently somehow a crime in and of itself.

“Presuming the guilt of a young man found innocent by a jury of his peers is the antithesis of standing for a fair criminal justice system,” Ramirez asserted to Fox News in calling out the school for not doing its homework. “That JMU allowed this to take place on their official social media accounts, to say nothing of the blatant misinformation, is egregious.”
“To see that the school’s chemistry department would then double down with more politicized rhetoric is beyond the pale,” she continued. “In their posts they say ‘it’s hard to focus on Chemistry,’ but that is literally their job and what parents are paying thousands of dollars in tuition fees expect them to do. This is why I’ve been so adamant that we need to make school about education again. We should be teaching students how to think critically, not what to think politically.”
This was sent to me by a @JMU alum. It is a now deleted video from JMU’s Official IG account that not only criticizes Rittenhouse’s innocent verdict, but mischaracterizes the facts of the case, stating that “two beautiful black lives” were killed, which is false. 1/2 pic.twitter.com/EoJOJr0CUH

“JMU is a publicly funded university that is now pushing political propaganda and misinformation from their social media accounts,” Ramirez added on Twitter. “JMU’s actions are unethical, as Kyle Rittenhouse was found innocent, and dangerous, as the post pushes false info that could lead to violence.”
A spokeswoman for the educational institution named after the fourth U.S. president explained that “James Madison University offers ‘student takeovers’ on social media platforms as an opportunity for our audiences to learn about student activities and research. One of yesterday’s takeovers went into the personal opinion and viewpoints of a student, which are not necessarily reflective of the university. The video expressing this opinion was removed from the university’s social media account.”
Social media users apparently have come to the conclusion that, in this context, JMU is promulgating a form of junk science perhaps. Here is a sampling:
So, what you’re ultimately trying to say is vote for Donald Trump in 2024 if you want to feel safe again….

Here’s a reminder from an alum: for a university that includes your department in requests for donations to support the mission of the school, ignorance like this makes it REALLY easy to hang up the next time someone comes calling.

Looks like the chemistry department got their twitter law degree too!

Why don’t you stick to science… Fiction is not your strength… And stop indoctrinating our youth with your communist propaganda!

May be the dumbest school in Virginia. It’s hard to focus on science when all your facts are wrong and pushing a political agenda.

Hard to believe you can misrepresent the truth about so much in so few words. How very succinct of you.

“Sitting in an apartment…” so, apparently the university doesn’t believe black and brown people can purchase homes. Can you be more racist?
What a bunch of morons.

Hey Amber… it’s not ok for a convicted pedophile and woman beater to show up to burn a town down to the ground, then try to murder a person who was trying to defend it and himself.
You’re spreading lies and misinformation.

The victims were white. The neighborhood was poor and multicultural. Police were told to stand down and let the rioters riot. Kyle was helping victims and putting out fires only to be attacked for it. When he shot the first guy he ran for police help only to be attacked again.

You’re not scientists, you’re activists. You know, the opposite of scientists.

This is literally disgusting and has to stop yesterday. Let’s hope @GlennYoungkin and @JasonMiyaresVA clean house – I don’t want my taxes funding JMU AT ALL.
