Fox News’ Juan Williams, whose takes have become increasingly unhinged now that his former “The Five” co-host Jesse Watters is unable to steer him toward moderation, argued late Friday that Kyle Rittenhouse, 18, would have been treated differently were he black.

“If this had been a black teenager who had done this, wow, I think the laws might have treated him a little differently,” he said during an appearance on Fox News’ “Special Report.”

He offered no evidence to substantiate this claim, likely because the evidence that does exist contradicts the claim.

On the same day that Rittenhouse was acquitted, a black man who’d been “accused of firing at Indian River County Sheriff’s Deputies during an early morning drug raid at his home back in 2017” was acquitted, as reported by Florida station WPBF.

“His girlfriend, Alteria Woods was caught in the crossfire, shot 10 times and later died. Coffee was charged with the murder of Woods after a grand jury exonerated two law enforcement officers for her death,” according to the station.

Last month in Chicago, a group of gang bangers, all of them black, were let off the hook for a deadly shootout that left one dead. According to a police report reviewed by the Chicago Sun-Times, the reason why was because the district attorney’s office had decided that the fatal shooting occurred during so-called “mutual combat.”

In Rittenhouse’s case, there were neither any drugs nor “mutual combat.” As his trial and acquittal demonstrated, he’d opened fire on three extremists, two of whom died from their wounds, in clear-cut self-defense.

Williams’ remark about race was not all that he got wrong. In speaking earlier about Rittenhouse’s acquittal, he completely botched other facts about the case.

“I think there are lots of people who are concerned that someone crossing into another state with a weapon, you know, really a vicious weapon, is now under the law allowed to engage in what looked like vigilantism,” he said.

Rittenhouse did not cross state lines with a weapon, as noted by conservative radio show host Dana Loesch in the tweet below that was directed at Democrat Rep. Jerry Nadler, who’s been telling the same sorts of lies as Williams.

Moreover, the 18-year-old has deep familial roots in Kenosha:

Apparently unconcerned about the facts, Williams continued his fact-free rant.

“And you think about conceal, right to carry laws. You think about stand your ground laws, the whole notion of self-defense when you are dealing with someone who’s armed is now — we’ve gone away from the idea of you are responsible when possible to step back if you’re armed. Now, with these new laws, you know, if you shoot, I mean, then you can say that you felt threatened,” he added.

Everything he said there was either a gross exaggeration or an outright lie. Video evidence from the Aug. 25th, 2020 shooting plainly shows that the three men whom Rittenhouse shot had been chasing after him, reportedly with the intent to kill.

Williams’ inability to be honest about the facts provoked an uproar on social media, with even former Fox News host Bill O’Reilly — whose show Williams used to appear on back in the day — crying foul in shock:

While Williams’ takes have regularly been questionable, they’ve reached new levels of illogical and non-factual ever since he resigned from his post at “The Five,” where he’d at least had the benefit of Watters keeping him in check.
