White House press secretary Jen Psaki did her level best Monday to introduce a new nickname for her boss President Joe Biden, who has been ridiculed for weeks amid the “Let’s go Brandon” fever that has swept the nation, where even Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis got in on the act by mischievously referring to the president’s administration as the “Brandon administration.”
Biden issued an executive order establishing a task force to implement the $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill, which will be will be overseen by former New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu and, while discussing this at Monday’s press briefing, Psaki referred to the president as “Sheriff Joe.”
“And as our executive order is an indication of, the President is very focused – they call him ‘Sheriff Joe’ for a reason – on the implementation of this, making sure we keep waste, fraud, and abuse – we prevent waste, fraud, and abuse, and that we are working directly for hours a day, which is what Mitch Landrieu will be doing, with governors, local officials, and others,” Psaki said.
Turns out, Biden employed the nickname himself on Friday while talking to reporters about appointing an overseer, comparing it to a role he had overseeing the implementation of the $787 billion stimulus act while serving under former President Barack Obama.
“One of our biggest responsibilities is to make sure the money is used efficiently and effectively,” Biden said, adding, “Friends started calling me Sheriff Joe … because I made it a point every day to stay on top of how exactly the money was spent, what projects were being built, and what projects were not being built, and how it was functioning.”
Unfortunately for Biden, in the eyes of many Americans, there’s only one “Sheriff Joe,” and that’s former Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio of Arizona, the hard-hitting lawman who went toe-to-toe with the Obama administration repeatedly over the issue of illegal immigration.
Nobody calls him sheriff Joe. We never have.
Only Sheriff Joe is Arpaio…. The only one referred to as such https://t.co/7KxxPegtpw

With “Sheriff Joe” trending, even the left wasn’t buying into the moniker dodge, as seen when Briahna Joy Gray, who served as national press secretary for Senator Bernie Sanders’ (I-VT) during his 2020 presidential campaign, responded in a tweet: “I’ve never heard anyone call him ‘Sheriff Joe,’ but I have heard Lyin’ Biden.”
Her point of contention being a broken promise over forgiving student debt for families earning less than $125,000, as seen here:

Former Hillary Clinton adviser Peter Daou also got in on the act, proving that he’s willing to beat a dead horse into the ground in tweeting a since debunked photo of Border Patrol agents on horseback using long reins to whip illegal immigrants. He added the phrase, “Sheriff Joe.”

But if Psaki had any thoughts that she may have dampened the “Let’s go Brandon” mania, social media was quick to relieve her of any such delusions.
Here’s a sampling of such responses from Twitter:
No one has ever called Joe Biden “Sheriff Joe”, @PressSec.
Ever.
In the real world, he goes by Brandon.
