MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” co-host Joe Scarborough repeatedly pushed the liberal media narrative that Kyle Rittenhouse was undeniably guilty while making a number of outrageous claims that have since been disproven by facts presented in court and put on the record.
“Here we have a 17-year-old kid, underage, said he bought an AR-15 because he thought it was cool. He drove across state… had his mother drive him across state lines, he appointed himself a militia member,” Scarborough had declared.
“He goes around and he ends up unloading, what, 60 rounds, kills two people, wounds a third person,” he disingenuously claimed.
Scarborough’s original comment is fittingly part of the trial record now after Rittenhouse’s defense attorney cited his “unloaded 60 rounds” claim as just one more example of the media promoting lies in connection to the case.
The defense just cited my tweet, in which Joe Scarborough said Kyle Rittenhouse discharged the gun 60 times.

Court records disprove Scarborough’s assertions. Rittenhouse was not part of a “militia.” He did not buy the gun that he had on him during the riot either. He did not take a gun across state lines as so many on the left and in the media have previously claimed.
Rittenhouse also didn’t go to Kenosha in order to violently confront Black Lives Matter as has been asserted. His defense argued that he was there to clean up graffiti and protect small businesses from rioters. The gun was reportedly taken purely for self-defense. He didn’t unload 60 rounds as Scarborough claimed for dramatic effect. He only reportedly possessed one clip of 30 rounds of ammo and fired 8 shots. Four of those were at Joseph Rosenbaum and another four were later fired during an incident that killed Anthony Huber and injured Gaige Grosskreutz. He did not reload his gun or use additional ammo.
“This is behavior that we, and I say we, I’m talking about conservatives, liberals, gun right supporters, gun control supporters, we as a society, this is behavior that we as a society want to discourage,” Scarborough had stated.
“So the question is what law is in place so Rittenhouse and Rittenhouses in the future don’t say, ‘hey, you know what? Hell’s breaking loose across the border in Georgia. I’m going to get my AR-15, skip school on Friday, and go up’ and I’m saying though, if you’re in Florida, I’m going to go across and I’m going to go into Georgia, and my teenage kid is going to just start waving around an AR-15,” he added.
“None of us, none of us want this sort of behavior. So what’s the charge against him for that? What’s in the law that prevents that sort of activity from taking place in the future?” he asked.

Scarborough tried to walk back the “60 rounds” falsehood, claiming he meant “60 seconds” in a tweet, “This is obviously wrong to anyone following the case for more than a minute. I meant to say he unloaded his rounds in about 60 seconds. Thanks for pointing this out.”

Intrepid journalist Glenn Greenwald mocked the backtrack, tweeting, “Joe Scarborough went on national TV today to vehemently opine on a trial he proved he had not seen and knew nothing about — by asserting a claim anyone paying minimal attention knew was false — and now he claims he’s ’embarrassed’ not for himself but those who pointed it out.”

It’s not just Scarborough who is to blame here for the media smearing Rittenhouse. Many more have piled on.
SUPERCUT!
Media: Why do reporting when we already know Rittenhouse is a terrorist? pic.twitter.com/abebdPyiIs

And they are so busy blaming the judge etc. in the trial they can’t seem to grasp the fact that a) the DA did a horrific job in the matter and b) Kyle Rittenhouse may, by all accounts, be innocent.

Scarborough got nailed over the statement and social media loved it:
I’m absolutely convinced that those most shrilly and vehemently insisting that the only just outcome is a guilty verdict for Rittenhouse, and that anyone who disagrees is raaacist, has not watched most or any of the trial, because they keep proving it with basic errors like this.

Joe blow is one of the most embarrassing guys, at an embarrassing network, in a embarrassing media landscape. Joe blow is a paid media bomb thrower with no other discernible skills and no where else to go.

Loved this….when Defense nailed media, specifically MSNBC, Scarborough when he said Kyle discharged gun 60 times…🔥🔥 https://t.co/bpQldXvZ4h

Hey @JoeNBC Kyle's Defense attorney just called you out for being a moron IN HIS CLOSING ARGUMENT.
You should be embarrassed.

If you want a free W, just admit this is a clear-cut case of self defense.
Be a winner, Joe.

Yes, I’m sure on the morning of closing arguments of an enormously consequential trial, he made sure to tune in to your show to see if you were going to correct a flat-out wrong assertion.
— Nancy Reardon (@NancyReardon2) November 15, 2021
Should be embarrassed for yourself and the rest of the media for how this trial has been covered. Pretty much like the coverage of everything else over the last few years though so not surprising.
— Matt Anderson (@mbanderson83) November 15, 2021
You still have a few more lies to correct about Kyle.
— Lovely Lucifer (@LuciferDoberman) November 15, 2021
The videos have been out for a year and you still get the basic facts wrong, he’s not the one who should be embarrassed
