Texas HHS monoclonal antibody criteria denies treatment to healthy Covid-positive white people under 65

Some hospitals across the country appear to be automatically granting monoclonal antibody treatments to patients of certain races while simultaneously denying them to patients of other races.

Take the MacArthur Medical Center in Irving, Texas.

Its website states that “Latin X or Black” patients automatically qualify for monoclonal antibody treatments. Others, such as those who are white, must instead qualify via other means — e.g., by being obese, by having heart disease, by being 65 or older, etc.

Over in the blue state of Minnesota meanwhile, the Minnesota Department of Health issued a guide sheet last week containing “suggested” eligibility requirements for those seeking monoclonal antibody treatments.

Included in the guide sheet is a section pertaining to race. It says basically that every other race of people except for white people should be granted automatic eligibility for these treatments.

In fairness, the department notes that the criteria are merely “suggested … to assist providers with clinical decision-making” and do “not supersede” federal requirements, which do not yet make reference to race — though not for a lack of effort.

All this said, are racial eligibility requirements actually being implemented in practice, though? Sadly, the answer is a definite yes.

A video emerged on social medial late last week showing a Texas hospital healthcare worker telling a white man who was being denied monoclonal antibody treatments that if he were black or Hispanic, the treatment would not have been denied.

Watch (*Language warning):

“So I’m not going to be able to get it today because I don’t qualify? What if I smoke or vape? What if I were black and Hispanic. Then I’d be able to qualify?” the white man, presumably Harrison Hill Smith, asks the healthcare worker in the video.

“Yup,” the healthcare worker, who’s black, replies.

“I’m being denied medical service because of my race?” Smith then asks again just to confirm.

“That’s the criteria,” the worker indifferently responds.

She then tries to justify the blatant racism and discrimination by citing the so-called “research.”

“What I do is go around make sure everyone meets the criteria. That’s the criteria that was set forth. If you were 65, you’d be good, but nope, you’re healthy — and you’re healthy and no medical conditions. So research shows you should be able to fight off COVID,” she says.

The stunning video provoked a torrent of angry backlash on social media, with some going so far as to compare the hospital’s racist eligibility requirements with the Chinese Communist Party’s treatment of Uyghur Muslims:

But it gets worse.

In response, Smith urged his supporters to call The Texas Department of Health and Human Services’ “State Infusion Hotline” to complain.

One supporter did, and much to his horror, he discovered that despite being in a red state, the Texas HHSC supports this policy.

Watch:

“African American and Hispanic are high-risk ethnicity groups, so that would be a qualifier,” the hotline operator casually says in the video above.

Now imagine if white people were granted special privileges for some treatment because they were considered a “high-risk” group for whatever condition the treatment targeted.

But because it’s a white man being discriminated against, some members of the increasingly illiberal, authoritarian left actually have had the gall to attack Harris for complaining about the racism.

Case in point:

This line of thinking fits in with the racial essentialism promoted by Ibram X. Kendi, a Democrat Party-beloved critical race theory advocate who argues that the discrimination of the past must be rectified with present-day discrimination.

Present-day discrimination just like this …
