Rep. Alexandria Ocaso-Cortez (D-NY) bluntly called out President Joe Biden for lying about what is really in his infrastructure bill after he claimed the newly passed legislation would “get rid of our nation’s dangerous lead pipes.”

“We’re finally going to get rid of our nation’s dangerous lead pipes thanks to this infrastructure deal. Every kid in this country will be able to turn on the tap and drink clean water,” Biden tweeted on Sunday.

“The cost to replace every lead pipe in the United States is $45-60 billion. BIF only gives $15b. Without BBB, many communities historically denied clean water will continue to be denied. Build Back Better has lead $ for disadvantaged communities. We must keep pushing for BBB,” Ocasio-Cortez asserted — BIF stands for the just passed $1.2 trillion bipartisan infrastructure bill, and BBB represents the Build Back Better plan.

“I want to protect our party from the disappointment and collapse in turnout from communities like mine that occurs when we tell them we did things we didn’t do. We shouldn’t promise all lead pipes will be fixed if that is not the case. Some will, most won’t. We must push for BBB,” she added.

“It’s not just that we made these promises before – look at how the infra bill is being messaged *now* I respect the President and the leg feat he just accomplished. But this is simply wrong. We did not fund the replacement of every child’s pipe & we shouldn’t tell people we did,” Ocasio-Cortez continued.

“We can and should message BIF as a step, but messaging it as a solution alone is going to get us into trouble. BBB contains the majority of the presidents agenda. We must keep going and ensure the promises are delivered,” she concluded.

Ocasio-Cortez also conducted an hour-long rant on Instagram Saturday railing about the decoupling of the infrastructure bill from the massive social spending legislation.

“Throughout this process, people would say that within our caucus, one of the issues that we have had is trust. And trust is not built in the big moments. Trust is built in the little moments. Trust is built in process. I think one of the issues that we had yesterday, for example, is we had a commitment that we were going to vote on the rule to allow BBB [Build Back Better] to proceed first,” she stated.

“We were ready to vote on Build Back Better this week. At the very last minute, there was a group of people saying, ‘All of sudden, we need a CBO score.’ You’re claiming that you don’t want to let Build Back Better proceed unless you can get certainty on the deficit … [and] demand that you have a deficit-increase bill at the same time? It doesn’t add up. It’s weird. Something weird was going on,” Ocasio-Cortez noted.

Although the entire “Squad” voted against the infrastructure bill, Ocasio-Cortez congratulated Biden on its passage. She also promoted the upcoming reconciliation bill while issuing a warning via Instagram.

“It’s already so stripped down, but there are still huge landmark investments in this [bill]. But if we don’t deliver the Build Back Better Act on climate, we will have done virtually nothing,” she claimed.

She does not appear to have a lot of faith that congressional Democrats will keep their promise and pass the Build Back Better Act that will cost at least $1.75 trillion and probably trillions more.

“We need folks who are willing to go on the record, and say this doesn’t feel right and we’re going to hold you accountable,” Ocasio-Cortez warned.
