The rising crime wave, supply chain problems, and the labor shortage that emerged during the coronavirus pandemic continue to rage on in the U.S., but even as the country emerges from the pandemic, some local governments, like Santa Monica, California continue to prioritize objectives like enforcing mask mandates.
One would think it’s still March 2020 in Santa Monica, with the city tweeting a reminder to residents on Thursday that they can report issues with face mask compliance to 3-1-1.
“If you’re out and about and notice a business isn’t making sure their customers are in compliance with the mask mandate, you can call 3-1-1, and they will send one of our Health Ambassadors do a business check,” the city tweeted.
Notably, 87 percent of Santa Monica residents have received at least one dose of the vaccine, 80 percent of all residents are fully vaccinated, 92 percent of those between the ages of 12-17 are fully vaccinated, and 91 percent of those ages 65 and up are also fully vaccinated.

Despite their total, fully vaccinated rate being well above the U.S. full vaccination average of 58 percent, the city extended local emergency orders through January 31, 2022. Those orders also extend eviction protections for reasons other than nonpayment of rent and renews the landlord’s eviction reporting requirement.
“As we enter the holiday season and we once again gather safely with friends and loved ones, remember that COVID-19 remains a serious threat and there are measures we can take to prevent its spread. Get the COVID-19 vaccine or booster if you are eligible and remember to schedule a flu shot. Enjoy celebrations outside and if moving indoors, ensure your company is vaccinated. Thank you to the nearly 87 percent of our community who has received the COVID-19 vaccine,” City Manager David White said in a press release.
Twitter users obliterated the City of Santa Monica for their mask compliance tweet, some calling them a nanny-state while others compared them to Nazi Germany.
“You know, there’s a reason people refer to Santa Monica as ‘The People’s Republic of Soviet Monica,'” one user tweeted.
“Glad you guys have solved all the other problems in the city and now can spend time and money harassing the nearly entirely vaccinated population. Good work,” another added.
California is going full on ol school Soviet Union mode. Such a sad state of affairs for a state I use to dream of living in and now you couldn’t pay me to go there

Totally normal thing to implement in a free country. Nothing to see here. THIS IS FINE.

The 4th Amendment prohibits warrantless searches, with a few exceptions, and they too, are not absolute. I would think that a health inspector does not have the right to walk into a Gun Shop and conduct a “Business Check” without a warrant! I would consult with a lawyer!

That is unbelievably scary. I really can’t believe this is an American agenda. Something odd is going on here

To those reading this I would recommend you watch a film called The Lives of Others. About the East German Stasi and what a culture of informants to the State does to people. Freedom is very fragile.

Or, if you’re uncomfortable with how they chose to run their business you could just be a grown-up and go somewhere else without involving the nanny state.

America, this is the tyrannical, divisive, anti-science world in which liberals want to live…
Please NEVER forget it now that they have finally made this exceedingly clear!

The WW2 healthpass.
Then they said that the wrong kind of people spread diseases.
That the wrong kind of people undermined the State.
That the wrong kind of people were untermenschen pic.twitter.com/LvY8B4qIqN— Lessons4Lefties (@LLefties) November 6, 2021

“If you’re out and about and notice a business isn’t making sure their customers are in compliance with the mask mandate, you can patronize that business and thank the owner for allowing people to make their own decisions live their lives.” #FixedIt

On Friday, Pfizer announced a new, experimental COVID-19 pill that reportedly cut the likelihood of hospitalization and death by 90 percent among high-risk adults in experimental trials, the AP reported. Pfizer said it will ask the FDA and international regulators to authorize its pill as soon as possible.
The fate of the vaccine and vaccination mandates remain unclear as pharmaceutical companies develop new, effective ways to treat the virus.
