House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s customary weekly press briefing devolved into a garbled mess this Thursday as she became increasingly more incoherent.
In fairness, the briefing started OK with the speaker articulating her points decently enough. But toward the end of the nearly half-hour-long briefing, she started to lose it.
Perhaps she’d grown tired? Or maybe she’d had other things on her mind? Either way, while speaking about congressional Democrats’ efforts to pass President Joe Biden’s Build Back Better agenda, her words became nearly impossible to decipher.

“The other thing that we’re getting or – we’re sending stuff over to the Senate. Most of the product that we’ve done is – except now we may have added in the last hour or so – and some of what we added is Senate, to the bill, like hearing,” she said, according to a transcript plucked from the speaker’s own website.
“Bernie doesn’t like hearing – excuse me – Bernie loves hearing. Manchin doesn’t want hearing in the bill and all that stuff. So, some is Senate-oriented, and then we have the family/medical leave. We figured if they’re putting things in, then we can put something in, even if Manchin doesn’t like it,” she added.
While it’s presumed she’d been speaking about the inclusion of Medicare coverage for “hearing” aids, she could not have been any less clear.
“So, we are getting some Byrd and privilege. I think mostly we’re getting privilege scrub because privilege scrub is deadly to a bill. Byrd? Well, it’s important. You have to take it out, but a privilege violation can take you out,” she continued.
Her statements were so poorly articulated that they spawned a flurry of jokes and mockery, with some wondering whether she’d had a stroke or glitch — or whether she was simply drunk.
In fact, legendary conservative Hollywood James Woods wondered whether Pelosi could pass a sobriety test speaking like this.

My guess would be that she goes through a bottle of Ketel One everyday

I could not understand a word she was saying 🤣

The scary thing is the 2 folks in line before her are less coherent.

The latter critic had half of a valid point. President Joe Biden often speaks incoherently. Vice President Kamala Harris, on the other hand, tends to speak clearly. Her primary problem is what critics say is her “fakeness.”
What’s not so clear — and may very well be a terrific debate topic (or competition theme) — is which Democrat leader is more incoherent, the president or the speaker?
Fox News host Sean Hannity appears to believe Biden is the winner. In commentary issued in March of 2020, he said that Pelosi was “almost as incoherent as Joe Biden.”
The judgment call was made in response to the speaker having tried to explain to the hosts of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” earlier that morning why she hadn’t spoken to then-President Donald Trump in months.
Watch:
A year and a half later, The Australian foreign editor Greg Sheridan expressed the same sentiment that Pelosi is “almost as incoherent” as the current president.
Listen:
The irony is that Pelosi, 81, is older than Biden, 78.
But not everybody believes the speaker is slightly less incoherent. A Twitter poll conducted by a random Twitter user in early 2020 found a 64.4 percent majority of 363 Twitter voters thought both are “equally incoherent.”
Look:
Nancy Pelosi often sounds (and looks) like she has had one too many drinks.
Creepy Joe Biden often forgets where he is.
Who is more incoherent?
Nancy or Creepy Joe?

However, unlike the president, Pelosi hasn’t faced constant accusations that she suffers from dementia.
Since around the time he declared his candidacy for office in 2019, Biden has appeared to behave in ways befitting a dementia patient at a nursing home.
The fears of him having dementia grew so dire that the Democrat National Committee forbade comedian and actress Julia Louis-Dreyfus from making an anti-Trump dementia joke at the 2020 DNC because they worried it’d draw attention to then-Democrat nominee Biden’s observable cognitive difficulties.

Returning to the present, just this week former Trump-era U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Nikki Haley reportedly called for elderly politicians to submit to “cognitive tests.”
“We seriously need to have a conversation that if you’re gonna have anyone above a certain age in a position of power — whether it’s the House, whether it’s the Senate, whether it’s vice president, whether it’s president — you should have some sort of cognitive test,” she said during an interview.
“And right now, let’s face it, we’ve got a lot of people in leadership positions that are old. And that’s not being disrespectful. That’s a fact. And when it comes to that, this shouldn’t be partisan. We should seriously be looking at the ages of the people that are running our country and understand if that’s what we want,” she added.
Though Haley didn’t name names, everyone knew exactly who she was referring to …
