Meghan Markle, a former actress who married into fame and fortune by wedding Prince Harry, has reportedly been haranguing GOP senators in an effort to lobby them into supporting the Democrat Party’s expensive policy prescriptions.

One of Markle’s victims, West Virginia Sen. Shelley Moore Capito, described to Politico on Wednesday how she’d received the call out of the blue.

“I’m in my car. I’m driving. It says ‘caller ID blocked.’ Honestly … I thought it was Sen. [Joe] Manchin. His calls come in blocked. And she goes ‘Sen. Capito?’ I said, ‘Yes.’ She said, ‘This is Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex,'” she recalled.

“Much to my surprise, she called me on my private line and she introduced herself as the Duchess of Sussex, which is kind of ironic. I was happy to talk with her. But I’m more interested in what the people of Maine are telling me about it,” she added.

The irony likely stemmed from the fact that Markle uses her official title as a tool despite her having smeared the Royal Family and ditched her post.

She reportedly also called Sen. Susan Collins, a longtime “squish” known for sometimes siding with the Democrats.

According to reports, Markle got their phone numbers from Democrat Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, a fierce #MeToo activist who apparently thinks it’s perfectly OK to give out women’s personal phone numbers.

Though in fairness to Gillibrand, she claims she’d “talked to each of the women senators and let them know that she’s going to reach out.”

But it’s unclear whether she’d spoken with them before or after giving out their personal phone numbers.

Markle’s calls came weeks after she wrote a public letter to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer last month begging them to push for paid leave in the Build Back Better plan that they’re currently working on.

“Paid leave should be a national right, rather than a patchwork option limited to those whose employers have policies in place, or those who live in one of the few states where a leave program exists. If we’re going to create a new era of family first policies, let’s make sure that includes a strong paid leave program for every American that’s guaranteed, accessible, and encouraged without stigma or penalty,” she wrote.

“I know how politically charged things can—and have—become. But this isn’t about Right or Left, it’s about right or wrong. This is about putting families above politics. And for a refreshing change, it’s something we all seem to agree on. At a point when everything feels so divisive, let this be a shared goal that unites us,” she added.

The letter wound up being retweeted by Hillary Clinton:

Markle’s efforts to lobby Republicans into supporting this endeavor are likely to fail. While Capito and Collins may possibly support paid leave, they’re unlikely to support the wider Build Back Better plan that the paid leave provision is bundled with.

The plan includes numerous other provisions completely anathema to conservative thinking, including amnesty, spiked taxes, and exorbitant spending.

In fact, even one of Democrats’ own, Sen. Joe Manchin, doesn’t support the wider plan, and their phone-related efforts to cajole him have also been unfruitful.

“Over the weekend, hounding from progressives didn’t exactly help Manchin when it came to the BBB. His angry Monday press conference, our Hill team reported, was actually in reaction to a flurry of texts he received from lawmakers on the left pressing him to support this and that over the weekend,” Politico notes.

“Could the Duchess of Sussex make progress where progressives could not?” the outlet added.

Likely not, though her efforts will at least probably make her — a woman considered by the Royal biographer to be extremely “self-centered” and “spoiled” — feel good about herself …
