Meghan McCain: Virginia victory proves Biden is so bad Republicans don’t need Trump to take back WH

Virginia resident Meghan McCain claims that Glenn Youngkin’s victory in the state’s gubernatorial election proves that America has turned on President Joe Biden’s “far-left radical, toxic” agenda and also that the GOP candidates can win going forward without Donald Trump’s overt backing.

Parents are the Republican Party’s not-so-secret weapon, she implied.

“Biden’s administration is on fire and bleeding independent voters every which way it can…The Democrats are doomed unless they stop running campaigns for MSNBC and start running them for the American people,” according to the late Sen. John McCain’s daughter.

The ex-View cohost is well known as a Never-Trump Republican and a former fangirl for family friend Biden, with whom she has since become disillusioned.

In her Daily Mail column, McCain explained that Youngkin’s historic win over Democrat Terry McAuliffe in a state in which Biden defeated Trump by 10 points in 2020 and was won by Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton in the three prior presidential election cycles, signaled the emergence of a new voting demographic: parent power.

Clinton crony McAuliffe, a former governor, unsuccessfully tried to get his old job back on Election Day. Virginia law prohibits governors from serving consecutive terms.

Bob McDonnell, who left office in 2014, was the most recent GOP candidate to win a governor’s election in the Old Dominion state. Both U.S. Senators from Virginia are Democrats and were both former governors.

With Youngkin at the top of the ticket, the GOP also won the other two statewide constitutional offices, lieutenant governor (Winsome Sears), and attorney general (Jason Miyares) on Tuesday.

McCain pointed out that campaign appearances by Obama, Biden, Kamala Harris, and other big-name Democrats turned out to be an epic fail “because they all signed up to the same progressive fantasies.”

According to McCain’s essay, Glenn Youngkin was “a qualified candidate whose strengths on the campaign trail only got sharper and grew as the election went on.”

McCain described the outcome as “nothing short of a bloodbath” for Democrats in a political sense and a metaphoric Red Wedding for Republicans in a callback to a memorable scene of mayhem from “Game of Thrones.”

It represents a complete repudiation of the Democrats’ overreaching woke, Big Government, big spending policies, as evidenced by McAuliffe’s “rotting political corpse,” McCain asserted.

It’s the culmination of the past eighteen months of teachers unions shutting down schools and refusing to reopen them, the rise and spread of Critical Race Theory, the scandal of a girl’s rape in a bathroom by a boy wearing a skirt and the subsequent coverup by the teachers’ board, of parents being called ‘domestic terrorists’ for daring to dissent and finally Terry McAullif’s tone-deaf comment that ‘parents shouldn’t be involved in the classroom’.

Trying to make the election all Trump was a huge blunder by Team Terry, she insisted.

But McCain predictably also took a shot at Trump, who had endorsed Youngkin.

Above all, Virginia proved that it’s not enough to tie all Republicans to President Trump and hope the stigma sticks. It simply doesn’t work.

No doubt Trump will try to take the credit for this win but, in reality, Youngkin kept his distance from former President and, despite Democrats trying to scare voters with him at every turn, the Orange Bogeyman wasn’t enough to scare them into voting blue regardless.

So far, despite the utter shambles that marked the Trump’s political demise, most Republicans have been cowed by the idea that their party cannot win without cleaving to his primacy.

What Virginia should make many Republican contenders consider is whether the Biden Democrats are now so utterly toxic to voters that the GOP could triumph in the mid-terms and the 2024 general election without pandering to the ego of Mar a Lago.

Either way, as things stand now anyway, the 2022 midterm elections are looking good for the GOP.
