Kellyanne Conway dishes on what’s driving Biden’s sinking ratings and what Trump was ‘more natural’ doing

Kellyanne Conway, former President Donald Trump’s top political consultant, offered insights into President Joe Biden’s job performance roughly nine months into his term, hitting on several policies and issues she believes are responsible for his tanking approval ratings.

In an interview with Fox News’ Jesse Watters, Conway, who departed the Trump administration in August 2020 to focus more on her family, said inflation, mass illegal immigration, and the overall appearance among a rising number of Americans that Biden does not appear to be mentally up to his job, are among several factors weighing down his job approval and popularity.

In addition, Conway said that despite having been in Washington for nearly 50 years, she doesn’t believe Biden is as effective at connecting with a majority of Americans the way then-novice politician Trump was when he was in the Oval Office.

To begin the segment, Watters noted China’s recent successful test of a nuclear-capable hypersonic missile that can evade current U.S. missile defense systems while “out of touch” Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s agency focuses on “international pronouns day,” before going on to note Biden’s “in a death spiral” with his polling.

He then noted U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland’s recent announcement that he has instructed U.S. attorneys and the FBI to investigate parental behavior at public school board meetings as potential “domestic terrorism,” adding that a letter sent by a top national school board organization to the White House was written in collusion with the administration.

“Time for America to wake up,” Watters said as he brought Conway in for reaction.

“Gallup today came out with a poll that showed since June, Joe Biden’s approval rating among Independents has cratered 21 points. Think about that. Just three or four months, it’s gone down 21 points,” Conway began.

She went on to say that Americans who call themselves independents are a very politically active group that pays attention to issues and is naturally suspicious of political leaders.

“Independents call themselves independent because they’re paying attention to politics, not because they’re not. They refuse to declare allegiance to either party. They declare independence from both parties, and they don’t like Washington. They don’t like politicians to begin with,” she said.

“And they look at Joe Biden now, and they don’t see someone who’s able to leverage 47 years in Washington. They see someone who is a product of 47 years in Washington,” Conway added.

She went on to say, “Democrats don’t have a messaging problem, they have a messenger problem. They have a fact problem.”

They’re trying to foist on the rest of us trillions of dollars in spending that, according to the polls, people don’t want,” said the former Trump adviser.

“We really should have listened to the Democrats, the 25 who ran against him and didn’t want him to be president,” she continued. “They didn’t think he was up to the task, up to the fight, up to the job. They were right. America doesn’t want Biden now. The Democrats don’t want him in the future.”

Later, Watters pointed out that Biden’s “people don’t even let him speak,” adding that the president often turns away from reporters after he finishes speaking rather than taking their questions and that the appearance among a growing number of Americans is that Biden does not appear to care about them.

Conway agreed, noting another recent survey reflecting that sentiment, adding that as a pollster, she pays a lot of attention to those “metrics.”

“He’s down all the way around, and this is why, I think, people have lost faith with him very quickly. It’s losing confidence in his competence,” she explained, going on to say that while some Americans did not like Trump’s tweeting, at least he communicated with all Americans, via the platform, every day, and they knew where he stood.

“The guy who never held political office — Donald Trump — was so much more natural at doing this,” said Conway.
