Texas Republicans pushing common-sense laws that honor life and liberty upset MSNBC host Brian Williams, who is concerned that “the Texas brand” will be rolled out in other states like Jim Crow laws did.
Williams started the Friday segment on “The 11th Hour” with an excerpt from a New York Times opinion piece titled “Texas, Harbinger of Doom,” by Charles Blow.
“When Jim Crow was originally established, it spread from state to state like a contagion. Each subsequent state taking lessons from the ones before it,” the 62-year-old journalist read. “Mississippi was one of the states at the vanguard of the first Jim Crow. Texas may well be at the vanguard of the next.'”
Williams asked his guest, University of Texas Professor Victoria DeFrancesco Soto, if “the Texas brand” which he described as promoting second amendment rights, voter integrity and medical autonomy while limiting life-ending abortions would be the “leading export to other red states.”

“Absolutely,” Soto responded emphatically. “And we have seen it for hundreds of years, that state contagion that Charles Blow talked about. For better or for worse, states are laboratories of democracy, right?”
“We’re seeing states being laboratories of curtailing democratic rights, small-D democratic rights, which is so troubling,” Soto said.
She also raised concerns about the redistricting process in the Lone Star State, explaining that she is petrified of “cracking” which is a form of gerrymandering aimed to dilute the voter pool of the opposition party among various districts instead of concentrating them into one.
“Throughout the whole plight of voter integrity bills or voter restriction, I was never losing sight of redistricting because this really truly scared me, because even in an ideal world where we didn’t have voter restrictions, where we were able to knock them down, I always knew that once we came into session and to draw the maps that Latinos, African-Americans, communities of color were going to be drawn out,” she explained.
“One quick example of this. In Texas, the growth that we saw Texas, 95% of that growth was fueled by communities of color. The latest maps that have been approved by the Texas State Senate did not add one district of a majority-minority. Instead of that what we’ve seen is the practice of cracking.
A self-proclaimed supporter of the inalienable rights promoted by Texas explained in a tweet why the “Texas brand” of politics will likely be so prolific among other conservative states.
“That’s Because Patriotism And Love Of Country Is Contagious. Something A Socialist Will Never, Ever….EVER Understand.” the user wrote.
Others cheered the “Texas brand” on, hoping that it would indeed infiltrate other states and others warned that leftists will overuse “Jim Crow” just like they seem to do by labeling anything they disagree with as “racism.”

Democrats are gonna wear out “jim crow” just like they did with “racism”. They will use it to describe anything they disagree with until it is totally void of any meaning. sad how they destroy things that we really needed to learn from.
