‘Creep’ caught on camera undoing shorts, entering child’s room nabbed thanks to his own sister

A Florida man who allegedly broke into a family’s home on Wednesday has been identified and arrested thanks to the help of his sister and his employer, who both notified police after seeing home surveillance footage of the incident released to the public.

The man, Thomas Marnets, 52, was arrested Thursday after fleeing the scene of the break-in in Holiday, Florida.

The home surveillance video captured the unsettling movements of the alleged suspect around the home. Marnets was reportedly recorded going into the room of a nine-year-old girl who was fast asleep, exiting the room, and undoing his shorts before re-entering the room.

Thankfully, the family dog detected the suspect and began barking, chasing him off of the property before anything worse occurred.

“You can’t get what could have happened out of your head. All you think about is I’m so grateful that this is all it was. I mean, that’s horrible to say because it’s still bad. But my daughter could have been taken. My daughter could have been assaulted. It could have been so much worse,” Jacqueline Eisinga, the nine-year-old’s mother told Fox 13.

Daniel Roles, the child’s father, said that he tried to chase Marnets, but was unable to catch him.

“I went and saw my garage door was open, my side door was broken and my gate was open. I just walked around my house and I didn’t see anybody out. I came back in and I called 911. It gives me the goosebumps, man. It’s supposed to be a safe place, and this guy is in my house snooping around my kids and family,” Roles explained to Fox News.

Because Marnets fled the scene, the sheriff’s office released the home surveillance footage to the public in the hopes that someone would be able to identify him. Deputies say “multiple” people identified Marnets as the suspect, most notably his own sister and his employer.

“I’m glad that I had the camera where I had it because we got the full frontal, facial view of him, but it’s still so terrifying to physically see someone in your home,” Eisinga told Fox 13.

Police later found Marnets at the Champion Inn on U.S. 19 wearing the same shorts, watch, glasses and bracelet seen in the home footage, according to Fox 13.

When police questioned the suspect, he allegedly told detectives that he “didn’t take anything” from the home.

Marnets was arrested for burglary of an occupied dwelling despite his denial of the charges.

The motivation for the break-in is unclear and police say there is no indication that Marnets knew the family.

Thankfully, the nine-year-old daughter slept through the frightening experience. She was awakened only by frantic cries from her mother, Eisinga, who told Fox 13 that her daughter reported being ‘fine’.
