Inherited!? Tweets by top WH officials call inflation, supply chain issues ‘inherited,’ ‘high class problems’

White House Chief of Staff Ronald Klain was slammed by conservatives on Wednesday for retweeting that President Joe Biden’s inflation and supply chain nightmares were “high class problems” and that they were “inherited” from the Trump administration.

Klain retweeted a statement from a Harvard professor named Jason Furman, who stated, “Most of the economic problems we’re facing (inflation, supply chains, etc.) are high class problems. We wouldn’t have had them if the unemployment rate was still 10 percent. We would instead have had a much worse problem.”

The chief of staff also tweeted, “Like many other problems we have inherited, we are tackling the supply chain mess,” attempting to shift the blame from Biden to former President Trump for a supply chain catastrophe solely of the president’s own making after being in office for nine months.

Trump thrashed the Biden administration for their incompetence in a statement on Wednesday, saying, “COVID is raging out of control, our supply chains are crashing with little product in our stores, we were humiliated in Afghanistan, our Border is a complete disaster, gas prices and inflation are zooming upward—how’s Biden doing. Do you miss me yet?”

Klain was pummeled for the retweet from Furman. He was accused of downplaying the brutal economic hardships that Americans are now facing.

“Struggling to pay for food, fuel, and housing because of rising prices is not a ‘high class problem,’” Tommy Pigott, who is the rapid response director for the Republican National Committee, tweeted. “Biden is making everyone worse off, but instead of stopping the damage, their strategy is to try to gaslight Americans.”

Biden announced on Wednesday a deal to expand operations at the Port of Los Angeles as inflation viciously bites Americans. Container ships are continuing to pile up at the dock, threatening Christmas as well as food and staple supplies across the nation.

These ships are stranded waiting for trucks to unload them. This, in turn, is leading to massive shortages, delays, and rampant inflation.

A White House fact sheet tried to spin that the United States is not the only nation struggling with supply chain issues. It notes that two ports in China are facing partial closures. It also shifts blame to the pandemic, highlighting that ports in Vietnam are locked down due to the virus.

Vice President Kamala Harris warned of supply chain disruptions in August long before this became a public issue. It appears that the Biden administration expected this development and did nothing to head it off.

“The stories that we are now hearing about the caution that if you want to have Christmas toys for your children, it might now be… might be the time to start buying them, because the delay may be many, many months,” she asserted. “So across the board, people are experiencing the issue.”

Meanwhile, Democrats are still haggling over spending trillions of dollars on infrastructure, real and socially engineered.

Furman claims that his tweet was not a political analysis, but rather his “social judgment.”

“That said, unemployment is always politically costly in a way that is puzzling given your obviously true statement. 2009 was a great year for the 140m people with jobs most of who got large real raises. But didn’t feel great,” he stated, according to Fox News.

No one, it would seem, is buying the “inherited” excuse.
