Former President Trump is stating in no uncertain terms that if he were to face Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL) in the 2024 presidential primary, he would beat him and most other Republicans would “drop out.”
“If I faced him, I’d beat him like I would beat everyone else,” Trump asserted while stating that he doesn’t expect a faceoff with DeSantis.
“I don’t think I will face him,” he openly predicted with certainty. “I think most people would drop out, I think he would drop out.”
Trump’s comments were made on Saturday during an interview with Yahoo Finance that will air Monday. It is widely believed among Republicans that the 2024 nomination for the presidency is Trump’s for the taking even though he has not declared he will run yet. It is considered doubtful that any Republican would attempt to stand in his way.

DeSantis’ popularity has soared as Americans have watched how competently and aggressively he has handled the pandemic and other potential presidential issues. But he has not declared his candidacy for the presidency in 2024 either and he is an ardent Trump supporter. That has not stopped the media from attempting to sow discord between Trump and DeSantis which is highly unlikely to take root.
If former President Trump didn’t run, DeSantis would most likely be the frontrunner at this juncture. However, many feel that Trump will almost certainly run for a third time and DeSantis is a likely contender for the vice presidency. The former president has previously stated that he would certainly consider DeSantis as a running mate and called him a friend.
“Well, he’s a friend of mine. I endorsed Ron. And after I endorsed him, he took off like a rocket ship,” Trump said on Fox Business. “He’s done a great job as governor.”
“A lot of people like that — I’m just saying what I read and what you read, they love that ticket,” he noted. “But certainly, Ron would be considered. He’s a great guy.”
A straw poll for the 2024 GOP presidential nomination that was taken at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in July showed DeSantis in second place. DeSantis came in at 21 percent behind Trump’s 70 percent.
The poll showed that if Trump were not running, that DeSantis would easily lead the pack at 68 percent.

DeSantis will face reelection in his home state of Florida next year. Right now, he is in fundraising mode and he is pulling in huge sums of money to back his reelection campaign in 2022.
The Florida governor does not seem to be considering the presidency at this point in time. He told Fox News host Sean Hannity, “I’m not considering anything beyond doing my job.”
“We’ve got a lot of stuff going on in Florida. I’m going to be running for reelection next year and we’re also working on a lot of things in the state beyond just the governor’s race,” the governor proclaimed last week on Hannity’s show.

Next weekend, Trump will travel to a rally at the Iowa State Fairgrounds in Des Moines. Iowa is the state that will kick off the next presidential election campaign. It’s his first stop since the 2020 election.
In a recent Fox News interview, Trump stated, “I don’t think we’re going to have a choice.” On Sept. 11, while visiting a New York City police precinct and neighboring firehouse in midtown Manhattan as Trump honored first responders on the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, he remarked, “I know what I’m going to do, but I’m not supposed to be talking about it yet from the standpoint of campaign finance laws, which, frankly, are ridiculous.”
Conservatives are excited about both Trump and DeSantis in 2024:
Florida needs De Santis but a ticket with Trump and De Santis could be the winner

Trump would do well to pick DeSantis as his Veep if he gets the nomination. He’s young, has energy, has a proven record to run on, doesn’t take any nonsense…

We need them to run together, and then DeSantis for the next eight years following

I support a Trump/DeSantis 2024 ticket. Then, DeSantis can run in 2028. There needs to be a long-term strategy here.

His gonna be the VP, and after those 4 years his gonna run for president
