‘I will find him’: Dog the Bounty Hunter now on the case in Brian Laundrie manhunt, visits family home

Legendary bounty hunter Duane Lee Chapman, known to the public by the alias Dog the Bounty Hunter, has joined the thus-far unsuccessful manhunt for Brian Laundrie, the boyfriend of deceased 22-year-old Gabby Petito.

On Saturday, the legendary bounty hunter known for the successful capture of over 8,000 fugitives showed up outside Laundrie’s home in North Port, Florida. The 23-year-old has reportedly lived in the three-bedroom home with his parents since 2015.

Video footage shows the bounty hunter repeatedly knocking on the Laundrie family home’s front door but nobody answering.

In an exclusive interview with Fox News following the door-knocking, Chapman said his goal had been to offer Laundrie’s parents a chance to get their son out of this mess alive.

“Right now we gotta hunt him as a wanted fugitive, so the reason I went to Mr. Laundrie is because I carry a reputation with me. You see me every night on Pluto TV. The reputation is he gives you a second chance. He gonna get you, but he gives you a second chance,” he explained.

Unlike the traditional authorities, Chapman doesn’t and has never carried a weapon, meaning fugitives face no risk of being killed when he’s involved.

“So I thought, wow, the dad’s gonna, you know, see me and crack. And I know the kid knows me — probably one of my fans — so I thought the dad would answer and talk, but I was very persistent without disturbing the peace and knocked a few times so they saw it was me,” the legendary bounty hunter continued.

“And I didn’t play nasty and put a copy of the warrant on their front door. None of that. I was very respectful, and the dad can still reach out to me through social media. Let’s get the kid captured alive. Alive!”

His assumption, of course, is that Laundrie’s mother and father know exactly where he’s currently hiding.

He also explained his reason for joining the manhunt: “Because I lost a daughter at about the same age, I know what the parents [of Petito] feel like, OK, and you want justice, OK, you want the guy behind bars. All of it’s alleged that he even committed the murder, but circumstantially, it looks like he did.”

Indeed, though the warrant for Laundrie pertains to the 23-year-old’s use of Petito’s debit/credit cards following her disappearance, the overwhelming suspicion among everybody, including Chapman, is that he murdered her.

As to Laundrie’s whereabouts, Chapman strongly believes he’s hiding in the Appalachian Mountains.

“The strongest lead I see is that one of [Petito’s] friends said he had been in the Appalachian Mountains by himself for a couple months. Now he’s not just a camper then; he is an outdoorsman. So … if there’s anywhere right now that looks the hottest, that could be the area,” he said.

As of this weekend, the authorities were reportedly searching the Carlton Reserve in Sarasota County instead as per claims fro Laundrie’s parents that he’d been headed toward it the last time they’d spoken with him:

However, early last week there was a possible Laundrie sighting in Canada, where on Monday a flight attendant snapped a photo at a hotel in Toronto of a “flustered” man who strongly resembled the missing 23-year-old.

Following the sighting, she reportedly posted a TikTok video showcasing the photo and sharing her suspicions.

It’s not clear whether the authorities are looking into this sighting.

What’s known is that there’s growing doubt that Laundrie’s even at Carlton Reserve.

In an interview Friday with the Daily Mail, swamp search and rescue expert Mike Hadsell — who’s reportedly quite familiar with the area — said “Laundrie’s probably not there.”

“There are lots of things in there that want to eat you or just kill you. Even if Laundrie was an experienced survivalist, the chances of him being able to stay out there this long are very slim,” he said.

“It would be extremely hard to survive as long as this search has been going on. I doubt he would survive more than two to three days because of the dangers of the swamp, the alligators, the snakes and the bugs.”

He further noted that the authorioties hadn’t even found any tracks yet.

Either, whether Laundrie’s in the reserve, in the Appalachian Mountains or in Canada, one thing’s for certain: Chapman’s “willing to go to extreme measures to find him,” as he bluntly explained to Fox News.
