Monica Lewinsky accused of having affair with author’s husband prior to Clinton scandal

Author Kate Nason is making the explosive claim that her ex-husband had a torrid affair with Monica Lewinsky before she had her scandalous fling with former President Bill Clinton in the White House.

Nason found out about the affair in 1997. Her husband at the time, Andy Bleiler, was allegedly having two affairs at the same time. One with a work colleague and the other with a friend of the family named Monica Lewinsky.

“I had suspected my then-husband was having an affair with a co-worker,” she told The New York Post. “I confronted him about it and he was gaslighting me.”

The co-worker confirmed the affair and also ratted out Lewinsky who was 23-years-old at the time.

“I found out about both of them that day,” the author confided.

Nason found herself mired in the middle of a presidential sex scandal as the affair between Lewinsky and Clinton went very, very public in January of 1998.

She claimed her privacy went out the window when the media got wind of her husband’s indiscretion with Lewinsky.

“I was reeling from that discovery when January of 1998 happened,” recounted Nason. “I got a call from my mother telling me she read a blurb about the [Bleiler and Lewinsky’s] affair in the LA Times … Before the end of the day, my voicemail was filled to capacity. The press showed up to our doorstep within hours.”

All of this is laid out in her new audio memoir “Everything Is Perfect.” She was the mother of two young children at the time and had to learn how to deal with betrayal very quickly.

“The book is really about my 30s, and the ridiculous mistakes I made along the way by ignoring my intuition,” asserted Nason. The memoir is more about her personal journey through that mess than about the lurid, messy details, she says.

“I was keenly aware that my big story had a big problem. How to tell my story when another woman’s story is tangled up in mine? In particular, a woman whose story has been told by herself and others. A woman who maintains a public presence and has worked to grapple with her own ghosts just as I have. And then, of course, there was an American president and a first lady. At first, I tried to write this story without them in it. In the end, the magnitude of these events in my life was so pivotal that to write them out was impossible,” she stated on her blog.

In an effort of “self-preservation,” she says she changed the names of Monica and Andrew to Mallory and Charlie to take the intense interest off them instead of her struggle.

“My husband’s ability to lie and deceive was matched by my own to delude,” Nason admitted. “I doubted myself. I denied my intuition.”

Her former husband had met Lewinsky while he was a drama teacher. Their affair reportedly started in 1993 when she was 19. Lewinsky attended Lewis and Clark College in Portland, OR where the couple had moved. She visited frequently and babysat their children. Nason said she enjoyed Lewinsky’s “bawdy humor. She always made me laugh, and always made me blush.”

As the media descended on their home after the affair leaked out, Nason took her children to Los Angeles for a week hoping they would be gone when she returned. They weren’t.

“I came back and things were getting worse so we were advised to do a press conference to make them go away,” she recounted.

She stood on their front porch with her then-husband and their attorney while her significant other humiliated her by telling the world of his years-long affair.

“I didn’t say anything. I stood there looking like a deer in headlights. My ex said a few words and then the lawyer took over. It seemed to last an eternity,” she remembered.

During the press conference, their attorney claimed that Lewinsky told the couple, “I’m going to the White House to get my presidential knee pads.”

“It was horrifying. Anytime there was a ripple in the case, people would show up at my doorstep. We lived six to eight months with our curtains closed. To be going through something so private and so heartbreaking and to have it so publicly aired. I feel for anyone who has gone through this,” Nason stated.

Her ordeal ended in divorce.

Ten years after the fact, Lewinsky wrote to Nason asking for forgiveness and she kept the note “tucked away in a box.”

In 2013, Nason gave certain items that were used in Clinton’s impeachment to an auction house. They included Lewinsky’s black negligee and handwritten notes.

She does not intend to watch the new special “Impeachment: American Crime Story.”

Social media chimed in on the revelation and many think the timing of the book is suspect:
