Trump sues niece. MSNBC hosts mock error on first page of lawsuit, as Mary responds with venom

MSNBC hosts Rachel Maddow and Lawrence O’Donnell scraped the bottom of the news barrel on Tuesday, mocking a minor error on the first page of former President Donald Trump’s lawsuit against his spiteful niece, Mary Trump.

“I just got the lawsuit during the commercial break. But on page one, it says, ‘The defendants’ actions were motivated by a personal vendetta and their desire to gain fame, notoriety, acclaim, and a financial windfall and were further intended to advance their political agenda,’” Maddow gleefully announced.

“Then it says this: ‘The brazenness of the defendants’ actions cannot be understated,’” Maddow cackled pointing to the error of using the word “understated” instead of “overstated.”

For some unfathomable reason, Maddow thought the mistake was insanely funny. “Cannot be understated. Cannot be–wait a minute. Let me get my–cannot be understated,” she repeated, laughing.

She was joined in her lame humor by O’Donnell who also thought it was hilarious. “Impossible to rewrite. Rachel, do not try to rewrite art, ok? Do not,” he said, smirking while mocking the former president and his attorneys.

Maddow was just beside herself over the goof. “That’s page one of the lawsuit! Cannot be understated. Ok. How can you not understate brazenness?! I’m sorry,” she gloated.

“He has the lawyers who think the way he does,” O’Donnell sneered.

“Yup. And who apparently, you know–I don’t know. Never mind. I will not speculate,” Maddow stated, grinning ear to ear.

“Donald Trump and his lawyers went to the same word school,” O’Donnell asserted.

“Only the best,” Maddow chirped.

“Mm-hmm, only the best,” O’Donnell smilingly agreed.

“Only the finest,” Maddow concluded.

Former President Trump is seeking at least $100 million each from his niece Mary Trump, The New York Times, and three of the media outlet’s reporters, according to The Daily Beast. The suit alleges that they engaged in an “insidious plot” to obtain Trump’s private records for a story concerning his tax returns.

The former president is accusing Mary Trump of breaking a non-disclosure agreement by leaking his personal tax documents to the New York Times.

“The defendants engaged in an insidious plot to obtain confidential and highly-sensitive records which they exploited for their own benefit and utilized as a means of falsely legitimizing their publicized works,” Trump’s attorney Alina Habba bluntly alleged in the 27-page complaint that was filed in Dutchess County, New York Supreme Court.

Times reporters Susanne Craig, David Barstow, and Russell Buettner engaged in an “extensive crusade” to secure Trump’s tax records and “relentlessly sought out his niece, Mary L. Trump, and convinced her to smuggle the records out of her attorneys’ office and turn them over to The Times,” the lawsuit claims.

The reporters “persistently and relentlessly sought out” the records for their reports and used “burner” phones, the lawsuit alleges.

The Times reporters were acclaimed for their work and won a 2019 Pulitzer Prize for their coverage of Trump’s finances and taxes. The lawsuit accuses the Times of attempting to capitalize on Trump’s taxes through “their publication of various news articles.”

Mary Trump responded to the lawsuit crassly, calling her uncle “a f**king loser.”

“I think he is a f**king loser, and he is going to throw anything against the wall he can,” she declared. “The walls are closing in and he is throwing anything against the wall that will stick. As is always the case with Donald, he’ll try and change the subject.”
