‘Meet the Press’ panelists mask up for photo, ditch it for video, then hammer Biden for ‘mixed messaging’

“Meet the Press” panelists donned masks before their show on Sunday, but once the cameras were rolling, they casually ditched them as if they believed COVID magically has no power over them when they are on the air.

The disconnect from reality became evident as Reuters White House correspondent Jeff Mason posted a photo ahead of his appearance on “Meet the Press” that showed everyone wearing masks. Then a tweet from the show showed the panel sitting around a table without their masks once the cameras started rolling.

The actions of the panel were noticed by viewers as host Chuck Todd confusingly and cluelessly spoke about the Biden administration’s “mixed messaging” on the fight against COVID.

“All this comes amid the sobering news that the seven-day average of deaths topped 2,000, though the number of cases has slowed somewhat in recent weeks — a hopeful sign that maybe the death rate will soon fall as well. Still, the mixed messaging threatens the administration’s credibility on what is arguably the most pressing issue facing this president. President Biden won’t be able to get his agenda passed without getting past COVID. In short, it’s a war he can’t afford to lose, and one that can’t last forever,” Todd remarked, maskless, on air.

Todd noted Biden’s very bad week in his opening remarks.

“To say this has not been a great week for the Biden presidency is a bit of an understatement. Just Friday was rough. The FDA scuttled his hopes for coveted boosters for everyone over 16. There’s a new migrant crisis at the Texas border with more than 10,000 Haitians living in deteriorating conditions,” he ticked off, listing the week’s catastrophes.

“U.S military had to admit its missile strike in Kabul in response to the killing of 13 soldiers was in error and that it killed up to 10 innocent civilians and then you had the issue with France so angry about the u.s sabotaging their submarine deal with Australia that they actually recalled their ambassador,” the “Meet the Press” host added.

Ironically, as the panel gathered maskless to bemoan the woes of President Biden including the pandemic, they brought on Dr. Fauci remotely to give his take on new COVID developments.

Fauci asserted that the Biden administration has not ruled out a vaccine mandate for commercial flights.

“The team has a lot of things on the table. Nothing has been taken off the table,” Fauci declared. “That decision has not been made.”

“We have not yet gotten to the point of requiring vaccinations on domestic flights, but everything is on the table,” he reiterated. “We consider these things literally on a daily basis. So suffice it to say, it’s still on the table right now.”

The Biden administration earlier in September announced that fines for passengers who refused to wear face coverings while flying would be doubled.

Fines previously started at $250 and went up to $1,500. That changed earlier this month as the minimum fine was raised to $500 and the maximum fine to $3000.

“You know, the president made the decision when it comes to flying, if, if a person does not want to wear a mask or doesn’t wear a mask, they double the fining on that,” Fauci proclaimed.

The irony of the discussion on not wearing masks did not appear to phase Todd or the panel in the least.

While Biden is currently suffering a credibility crisis on multiple fronts, panelists on NBC’s “Meet the Press” seem to be having one of their own when it comes to masking.
