MSNBC’s resident conspiracy theorist/alarmist Joy Reid claims — without evidence — that the GOP is running a “death cult” that is ” A-Okay with COVID running wild” and that Republicans want the infection “pumping through their veins.”
The host of The ReidOut also smeared California recall hopeful Larry Elder as the “COVID candidate” even though he himself is vaxxed.
Elder’s sin, according to the liberal TV host, was in saying that the younger cohort need not be vaccinated because science considers them at low risk for the virus.
Reid’s implication, which was agreed to by ex-Obama advisor David Plouffe, seemed to be that Gavin Newsom’s victory over the recall effort (via mail-in ballots) should embolden authoritarian and lockdown-loving Democrats even more because the coronavirus was supposedly the most important issue in the election.
In the literal finger-pointing segment, a triumphant Reid — who perhaps is anticipating a ratings spike over her feud with Nicki Minaj — made a series of wild, if not unhinged, accusations against Republicans.
“So, Republicans, your thirst for COVID is why you lost [the recall]. Nobody likes your policies that threaten our safety and our kids. You may want COVID; you may want to ingest horse de-wormer, and attend far too many funerals, but we don’t…”
“[California] is perhaps the first real tangible proof that your…COVID-loving death cult ways are not going to work for you at the ballot box next year. In fact, it’s political suicide. And also apparently talk-radio suicide because your brilliant little COVID plan is killing right-wing hosts…”
In continuing this rant, Reid claimed that the GOP is “embracing” COVID to the point that the political party wants to “get it into every school building, cruise ship, job place, Walmart, Texaco, everywhere….”
Displaying a map of California recall voting trends and COVID hot spots, Reid — who Tucker Carlson has irreverently nicknamed the “race lady” — then claimed that “where people wanted to recall Newsom is where there’s the most COVID. So it’s like ‘give us more; inject it in us. Is there a way we can drink it in a Kool-Aid cup, because we want it, and we want it bad.'”
Watch a portion of the segment below, but remember, you’ve been warned:
Curtis Houck, the Newsbusters managing editor, has recalled how Joy Reid was admittedly vaccine-hesitant last year because the dose was developed under President Donald Trump.
Houck separately wrote on Twitter about her diatribe that “Joy Reid is such a poisonous human being it’s safe to say she doesn’t care about the lives of conservatives and Republicans…words matter, Joy!”
During the pandemic, moreover, many have noticed that the left has abandoned its support of body autonomy along with its traditional skepticism of corporate America, including Big Pharma.
Apart from or in addition those who have good-faith questions about the safety or efficacy of vaccines, various Republicans, such as red-state governors, and others are actually pro-vaccine but anti-vaccine mandates, which they consider an infringement on personal freedom.
The political/media establishment, as well as public health officials, seem to want to push anyone with an alternative opinion, such as natural immunity for those who have recovered from the virus, into the anti-vax category.
Ubiquitous multimedia personality Dr. Drew Pinsky, who is a vaccine advocate, has claimed on his podcast that the COVID outbreak is the first time in history that bureaucrats have interfered with the doctor-patient relationship.
All this is occurring against the backdrop of the apparently increasing number of so-called breakthrough infections in the U.S. and overseas among those who are fully vaccinated. VP Kamala Harris raised many eyebrows when she recently tweeted that vaccinating the unvaccinated “protects” those who already have the jab.
