CA votes to keep Gavin Newsom as governor. Here’s what the aftermath looks like.

Embattled California Governor Gavin Newsom has overwhelmingly defeated the recall effort against him, retaining his powerful position which allows him to continue his draconian pandemic policies and his social justice directives.

Newsom crowed over his victory in a public address after Tuesday’s recall election.

“No is not the only thing that was expressed tonight. I want to focus on what we said yes to as a state. We said yes to science. We said yes to vaccines. We said yes to ending this pandemic. We said yes to people’s right to vote without fear of fake, fraud, or voter suppression. We said yes to women’s fundamental constitutional right to decide for herself what she does with her body, her fate, and future. We said yes to diversity. We said yes to inclusion. We said yes to pluralism,” he proclaimed.

“We said yes to all those things that we hold dear as Californians and I would argue as Americans… economic justice, social justice, racial justice, environmental justice. Our values where California has made so much progress. All of those things were on the ballot this evening,” Newsom continued.

The effort to oust Newsom was primarily due to his mishandling of the state’s response to the coronavirus. But with skyrocketing homelessness in California, as well as raging wildfires, a blistering drought, and businesses fleeing the state due to massive taxation and regulations, it is hard to understand how Newsom stayed in office.

The fact that the election result was announced so quickly is also suspicious to many, many people. Ballots were mailed in last week and approximately 22 million votes had to be tabulated for the results. With early voting and other votes to be taken into account, the election was decided much faster than anyone thought it would be, raising the ever-present specter of vote fraud.

Voters were asked two questions on the recall ballots. One was whether Newsom should be removed from office. If more than 50 percent of voters had said yes, then the second question asked would be who should replace him. The vote never got past the first question.

Newsom defended his position on handling the pandemic all the way through his recall. Tuesday, at a San Francisco union hall, he told supporters that “we cannot let that progress be stalled. We cannot allow the economy, not just our public health, to be impacted by a wrong decision tonight,” according to Fox News.

The recall began in June of 2020. It gained momentum after photos surfaced of Newsom’s dinner at an elitist restaurant where he and attendees were seen maskless and not social distancing during the height of California’s pandemic lockdown. More than 1.5 million voters signed the recall petition against Newsom.

Newsom had big money flooding into the state from Democrats trying to keep him in place. President Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, former President Obama, Sen. Bernie Sanders, and Sen. Elizabeth Warren all stumped for him during the recall effort.

“The eyes of the nation are on California because the decision you’re going to make isn’t just going to have a huge impact on California, it’s going to reverberate around the nation, and quite frankly — not a joke — around the world,” Biden asserted in California.

They painted the recall effort as a Republican “power grab” and vilified former President Trump at every opportunity.

“This election is a choice about life and death,” Newsom emphasized at an event with Harris last week.

Republican contender Larry Elder made a significant run at unseating Newsom even though he was subjected to racist and physical attacks during the campaign. Elder was gracious in admitting defeat whereas Newsom was arrogant in seizing victory.

“Let’s be gracious in defeat,” Elder told his audience as they booed Newsom according to the Daily Mail. “We may have lost the battle, but we are going to win the war.”

The governor compared Elder to Trump trying and evidently succeeding in tainting the Libertarian’s run against him.

Newsom claimed that it’s “important to focus on Larry” because he contended that Elder’s “even more extreme than Trump in many respects.” He told a crowd at a rally that even though Trump was defeated by Biden in November’s presidential election, “we did not defeat Trumpism… it is still alive across this country.” Then he warned, “it has come to the state of California.”

“Recalling Newsom would have given California one final shot to escape its tailspin into becoming a totalitarian socialist state while providing America a unique chance to remove itself from the quicksand of this never-ending Covid insanity,” conservative journalist John Ziegler said. “One day, it will be abundantly clear that both this state and the nation regretted having squandered this critical opportunity to fight back fascism before it became forever an integral part of ‘woke’ doctrine.”
