Shaq schools NBA star Ben Simmons: Hard-working people don’t ‘give a s**t’ about none of your showboating

Shaquille O’Neal tore into the Philadelphia 76ers point guard Ben Simmons for taking a $200 million contract with the team while allegedly requesting a trade and showing off pics of a Ferrari and an actress he was seen with at a game.

“I have g-14 classification to say what I am about to say and so does Charles Barkley: Ben Simmons, you’re not that good,” O’Neal stated during his “Big Podcast.” “In this league, do you want to be good? Or do you want to be great? You’re not great. But if you want to get to that next level, you have to be great and to be great, you have to work on your game.

“Don’t be putting pictures up on your Instagram of your Ferrari or what actress you’re hanging around with. When you play for a town like Philadelphia, Boston, L.A., Miami, hard-working town, they don’t give a s–t about none of that. They want you to come work hard and play hard,” he said schooling Simmons.

And if getting smacked by Shaq wasn’t enough, NBA legend Charles Barkley said he was disappointed in Simmons for taking a lucrative contract from the Sixers while looking to trade to another team.

“I’m disappointed in Ben Simmons. When you give somebody $200 million to dribble a stupid basketball and the only thing you ask him is be better as a player, and their first response is, ‘I don’t want to play here anymore,’ that disappoints me as a player, it disappoints me as a fan,” he stated.

“They’re not saying, ‘Hey, come over here and cut my grass.’ They’re saying, ‘Ben, we need you to learn how to shoot the basketball,’” remarked Barkley.

Simmons reportedly bought a mansion in Los Angeles in July worth $17.5 million. That was not long after he was seen in London with his rumored girlfriend and British media personality, Maya Jama. He dated Kendall Jenner before Jama so it appears Simmons has been very busy in social circles.

He has a custom F-150 truck and two Rolls-Royce models (Cullinan and Wraith). Simmons also owns more than one Ferrari. He is the proud owner of a 488 Spider and a 488 Pista. Simmons also owns a Lamborghini Urus according to Autoevolution.

Shaq stated that he was at Game 6 of the playoff series that pitted the Sixers against the Hawks. He was there when Simmons refused to shoot.

“I know as a player, first thing I do is look in the player’s eyes. That man was out there terrified. Not terrified of playing, but terrified of being fouled and missing free throws. Forget all that,” O’Neal recounted.

Simmons shot an astoundingly paltry 34 percent from the free-throw line during the postseason.

Trade rumors concerning Simmons have been swirling since his less-than-stellar postseason ended. ESPN’s Brian Windhorst reported that Simmons doesn’t intend to make it easy for the Sixers to unload him.

“One of the messages that Ben has sent back towards Philly is that it’s not his job to fix his trade value,” Windhorst stated according to SixersWire. “It’s not his job to correct his trade value or raise his trade value. That is not something that is on the menu for him and so, with that out there, I don’t think he’s interested in coming in and trying to change the situation.”

“One thing that I think is interesting is that his contract is structured in a way that he’s going to get half of his money by October 1st. $16.5 million of his $33 million comes before he has to worry about getting fined a single dime for 41 of his game so he’s going to have a war chest if he can just sit this out,” he concluded.
