Biden to mandate all federal workers, associated contractors get COVID jab as part of impending plan

President Joe Biden signed an executive order on Thursday mandating that all federal workers including contractors who do business with the feds get vaccinated against COVID-19, removing the alternative option for testing as previously allowed.

Biden is finalizing a six-point plan to force Americans to get vaccinated that he will outline Thursday afternoon, according to the Associated Press. He’s using the delta variant as an excuse for his new mandate which will apply to the executive branch and federal workers. Military service members are already mandated to be vaccinated by the Biden administration.

It is unknown if Biden’s plan will include an exception for workers or contractors seeking religious or medical exemptions from vaccination.

White House press secretary Jen Psaki alarmed unvaccinated Americans when she responded to a reporter’s question concerning Biden’s plan and whether it would impact their day-to-day lives, stating at a press briefing that that “it depends on if you’re vaccinated or not.”

Many interpreted that as a threat to crack down on Americans who refuse to get the jab.

Speaking at the daily White House briefing on Wednesday, Psaki told reporters that Biden would “outline the next phase in the fight against the virus and what that looks like, including measures to work with the public and private sector.”

She asserted that he would be “building on the steps that we’ve already announced, the steps we’ve taken over the last few months, requiring more vaccinations, boosting important testing measures and more, making it safer for kids to go to school, all at a time when the American people are listening. Again, this will be six steps that we’ll work to be implementing over the months ahead.”

Biden’s plan will reportedly entail six areas of focus including getting the unvaccinated vaccinated; providing more protection for the vaccinated; keeping schools safely open; increasing testing and requiring masking; protecting economic recovery, and improving care for individuals that have contracted COVID.

The Department of Defense, the Department of Veterans Affairs, Indian Health Services, and the National Institutes of Health will also complete their previously announced vaccination mandates, which the White House estimates covers approximately 2.5 million workers.

White House Chief of Staff Ron Klain appeared to insinuate that Biden will announce more than just his executive order on federal workers as part of his plan to increase vaccination rates.

“Vaccines work. Later today, @POTUS will announce new steps to get more people vaccinated,” Klain tweeted.

Biden has previously blamed the poor job recovery and the economic downturn on the spread of the delta variant.

Approximately 208 million Americans are said to have received at least one dose of the vaccine so far. Over 177 million are reportedly fully vaccinated. Despite those numbers, cases of COVID-19 are surging once again with an estimated 140,000 new cases per day and an average of 1,000 Americans dying from the virus daily. Many do not believe those numbers which come from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The government is still contending that most of the cases of COVID and related deaths are among the unvaccinated. Breakthrough infections in those who are vaccinated are occurring but are said to be far less dangerous.

Booster shots are also being pushed now for those deemed at risk. They are being recommended eight months after full vaccination.

Many are angered by the new mandate and less than impressed by Biden’s political posturing:
