With Kamala Harris laying low, CNN responds with hard-hitting piece asking where’s Melania?

With Vice President Kamala Harris conspicuously laying low as the ceiling falls in on boss President Joe Biden for his disastrous management of the Afghanistan exit, CNN found a great way to divert attention.

Almost as if the network suddenly called out, “Look, squirrel!,” CNN did a feature piece on former first lady Melania Trump having been seen “just once publicly this summer.”

The article used the possibility of Donald Trump making a 2024 White House run as the base to call attention to his wife, now a private citizen, going about her business.

“Melania Trump, perhaps the most private first lady in modern history, has retreated more and more from the spotlight since departing Washington last January,” wrote White House correspondent Kate Bennett. “She has been seen publicly just once this summer, spotted in July by photographers leaving Trump Tower in New York City, accompanied by her son. Other than that, with the exception of a few Instagram posts from random people who happened to glimpse her in the dining room at Trump’s Bedminster Golf Club, Trump — ever the enigma — hasn’t purposefully set foot in front of a camera.”

It’s hard to recall a similar focus on former first lady Michelle Obama, who seemingly fell off the face of the planet after her husband left office.

The odd thing here is that when Melania Trump was the first lady, the media all but ignored her unless they were criticizing her. The one thing that may be even more egregious than a concerted effort by various government agencies to undermine and otherwise take out a sitting president in Trump was the shameless way the perhaps most elegant, classiest first lady since Jackie Kennedy was treated.

Fashion magazines that fawned over Mrs. Obama like she was a goddess, and even find ways to glamorize first lady Jill Biden, shunned Mrs. Trump, a former model, for four years.

Vice President Harris is expected to surface this week to campaign in the Bay Area for California Gov. Gavin Newson, who’s facing a Sept. 14 recall election to oust him — she canceled a scheduled appearance on Aug. 27, after 13 U.S. service members were killed the day before by a suicide bomber in Afghanistan.

But it’s clear she wants no part of the blame for the Afghan debacle that’s tanking the president’s approval numbers. At the same time, Harris has been all but exonerated by her media allies for doing nothing to resolve the out-of-control crisis on the border, after being tapped by President Biden to tackle the problem. The U.S. is on tap to take in two million illegal immigrants this year alone.

Fox News’ Greg Gutfeld said of Harris missing in action these past few weeks, “It’s almost like she was abducted by aliens! And not the ones pouring across our southern border.”

So, sure, where’s Melania, CNN asks? Although, it is understandable that given their tanking ratings, CNN needs a Trump to kick around to stir their liberal viewers.

Social media was on to the ruse, though, as seen in the responses to the story from Twitter:
