Spirit Airlines is certainly full of spirit.
In the past month, a number of bizarre events linked to the budget friendly airlines have transpired.
The latest event reportedly happened Thursday or Friday, when an alleged Spirit Airlines passenger was captured on video gallivanting around an unnamed airport in nothing but a bikini — and of course a face mask.
Because as everybody knows, while walking around virtually naked might provoke some looks of disbelief, not wearing a mask is likely to trigger full-blown mental breakdowns.
Watch the mask-clad passenger below:

“When you have a pool party at noon and a Spirit airlines flight to catch at 4pm,” the facetious caption reads.
The video was posted by “Humans Of Spirit Airlines,” an Instagram page apparently devoted to highlighting bizarre-acting passengers of Spirit Airlines.
The woman has since become an internet sensation, earning herself boatloads of thirsty male fans:
I just want to let you know that it’s totally fine by me

She can sit on my lap if they won’t let her buy a ticket.

Ill sit next to her

For the first ever on a plane I would say to myself,” Please sit next to me!”

One man even suggested normalizing such behavior:
Normalize flying in bikinis

But others warned that this plan could quickly backfire:

Spirit Airlines, for its part, claims the video — and others like it — aren’t necessarily of its passengers.
“This account often falsely attributes photos and videos to Spirit Airlines. The video could have been taken at any time or any place and it has no identifying characteristic of any airline. I checked, and we have no record of this on file,” a representative for the airline told the New York Post.
Fair enough, but the problem is this didn’t happen in a vacuum.
Last week, a Florida woman was reportedly yanked off a Spirit Airlines flight after she lit up a cigarette in-flight.
Worse, she even reportedly blew smoke in the face of another passenger who has asthma.
“She’s smoking it in my face. She’s turning around to blow it,” asthmatic passenger Alexa Majdalawi, who was sitting behind the woman, told Fox News.
According to the Miami Herald, when the authorities got to the smoking woman — the plane hadn’t taken off yet — they found her asleep.
“I’ve had a long day,” she reportedly muttered after they woke her up.
This isn’t even the first cigarette incident on Spirit Airlines.
Two years ago, virtually the exact same thing happened, except that this flight was in the air.
“Video shot by a fellow passenger shows the man taking a drag and then appearing to fall asleep before a flight attendant tells him what he is doing is ‘against the law.’ He was reportedly escorted off by police once the plane was on the ground,” according to the Herald.
There’s a reason Spirit Airlines is, sadly, considered by some the “slumlord of the skies.”
“Think of Spirit as a slumlord circa 1920, only airborne. Its modus operandi is cheap fares on the front end, with a blizzard of fees on the back. It then skimps on everything – except executive pay, of course – to provide a travel experience just this side of intolerable,” according to the Cleveland Scene, an alternative weekly newspaper.
“Pilots describe an infrastructure built to handle a company one-third its size. Computer systems crash. Customer service lines go dead. Spirit doesn’t always know where its flight crews are, which is why they’re not showing up at your gate. There’s a good chance they’re stranded somewhere too,” the newspaper adds.
And then, there’s the near-naked passengers, the smoking passengers, and of course the drunk passengers. Gotta have the drunk passengers!
FYI, the video above was recorded just a month ago.
Spirit, baby!
But you think this is bad? You ain’t seen nothing yet.
Six months ago, a passenger tried to open the flight’s emergency exit doors while the plane was in the air.
“A Spirit Airlines plane bound for Los Angeles was diverted to Denver Wednesday when a passenger apparently tried to open an exit door during the flight,” station KNBC reported at the time.
“Video from another passenger on Spirit Airlines flight 185 showed passengers and crew members restraining the man near the exit door. A passenger, who asked not to be identified, told NBCLA that the man emerged shirtless from the restroom and tried to open the exit door,” the station noted.
In this case, it appears the Spirit Airlines passenger was trying to become a spirit. Oof!
