Washington Post media critic Erik Wemple took offense to Marine Corps veteran and syndicated radio host Jesse Kelly asserting that Vice President Kamala Harris slept her way to the top via former California Assemblyman Willie Brown.
“On Thursday night, @JesseKellyDC, in a guest appearance on @TuckerCarlson, said that Harris ‘quite literally laid down to get the job.’ I asked Fox News if they had anything to say about that comment. Nope,” Wemple tweeted.
Kelly was succinct in his response, “Wanna hear how sorry I am?”
The statement that has Wemple and other leftists twisted in knots was a comment that Kelly made on Tucker Carlson’s show Thursday night during a rant on President Biden’s horrific handling of Afghanistan.
“Tucker, they put Joe Biden in there on purpose. You remember, they cleared out the field to put in this old man who’s clearly half functional. Instead of dependable, we got Depends in the White House. The guy has no idea what he’s doing and the backup plan is Kamala Harris, who quite literally laid down to get the job,” Kelly said.

Wemple initially referred to Fox Nation host Tomi Lahren who said something similar, “Kamala did you fight for ideals or did you sleep your way to the top with Willie Brown?”
She later apologized for that statement. Kelly has no intention of apologizing for what he sees as the truth.
Kamala did you fight for ideals or did you sleep your way to the top with Willie Brown?

The Washington Post writer used Lahren’s portrayal of Harris in his swipe at Kelly. “Two years ago, Fox Nation host Tomi Lahren apologized after speculating that then-Sen. Kamala Harris had slept her ‘way to the top with Willie Brown.” He added, “Lahren’s apology came after she received brushbacks from her colleagues at Fox News.”
If that comparison with Kelly’s appearance on Tucker’s Carlson’s show was meant to elicit an apology from the Marine veteran, it epically failed.
Both Kelly had Lahren are repeating Willie Brown’s own assertions about Kamala Harris. She allegedly had an ongoing affair with the assemblyman. Harris was an assistant prosecutor at the time and dated Brown until he was elected mayor of San Francisco in 1996.
He originally stated, according to the San Francisco Chronicle, “Yes, we dated. It was more than 20 years ago. Yes, I may have influenced her career by appointing her to two state commissions when I was Assembly speaker.”
“And I certainly helped with her first race for district attorney in San Francisco. I have also helped the careers of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Gov. Gavin Newsom, Sen. Dianne Feinstein and a host of other politicians,” he added.
“The difference is that Harris is the only one who, after I helped her, sent word that I would be indicted if I ‘so much as jaywalked’ while she was D.A.,” Brown concluded.
In 2003, San Francisco Weekly wrote an article on Harris. They called Brown “Harris’ spurned ex-lover and unsolicited political backer.”
The article noted that Harris didn’t even want to address her relationship with Brown at the time, saying, “I refuse to design my campaign around criticizing Willie Brown for the sake of appearing to be independent when I have no doubt that I am independent of him — and that he would probably right now express some fright about the fact that he cannot control me. His career is over; I will be alive and kicking for the next 40 years. I do not owe him a thing.”
She also called their relationship an “albatross” around her neck.
Her affair with Brown has earned her the dubious nickname of “Heels up Harris.”
Many agree with Kelly and his assessment of how Harris rose in power and alternatively slammed the Washington Post for seizing on the comment:
But did you reach out to Willie Brown for comment too? https://t.co/KQPYlDLQ9Y
