NBC to broadcast first interview with cop who killed Ashli Babbitt

There is such a thing as a travesty of justice, and then there is the willful avoidance of it. Both of these concepts are true in the case of Ashli Babbitt, the 14-year Air Force veteran who was killed by an as-yet-unnamed Capitol police officer on January 6th. Tonight, NBC will broadcast a long-awaited interview that Lester Holt conducted with her murderer so America gets his side of the story.

It was over seven months ago that protestors marched to the Capitol building in Washington D.C. to petition the government for a redress of grievances (see the First Amendment of the Constitution.) Some acted stupidly, but they were small in number. Most simply froze their butts off outside the Capitol building as America’s worst bartender, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, cowered in a colleague’s office – in a different building – allegedly in fear for her body and life.

In addition to Brian Sicknick, who died after suffering two strokes in the days following the January 6th protest, four Capitol police officers have committed suicide, bringing the total loss of law enforcement lives to five in connection with the riot, according to a recent article from CNBC.

But the only person actually killed on that day was 35-year-old Ashli Babbitt.

A Fox News story from August 15th details the struggles Babbitt’s mother, Micki Witthoeft, has had in reconciling her daughter’s death.

“I started with Nancy Pelosi. And I called Nancy Pelosi and I called Dianne Feinstein … from three weeks after Ashli’s death to currently. … Nancy Pelosi I have called no less than a dozen times. I have never received any kind of correspondence from her. She will not call me back. I’ve emailed her, she doesn’t email me back. .. I’ve had absolutely no response,” she said.

In a particularly disgusting response – although alleged at this point – an aide to Sen. Diane Feinstein (Dinosuar-CA) said to Ashli’s mother, “Although it’s unfortunate, your daughter should not have stormed the Capitol,” adding afterward, “Dianne Feinstein will never have two minutes for you.”

“When people say that our government is for the people, by the people – unless you’re trying to get in, and then nobody’s opening these doors,” Witthoeft said.

“I knew that my daughter had been shot but there had been no official contact with our family as to who [shot her] — and my son-in-law actually learned of Ashli’s death by seeing it on TV,” she said.

She added that the only person she heard of in any official capacity was then-President Donald J. Trump.

Many of the accused rioters from January 6th are still being held in jail without bail, though none have been charged with treason, sedition, nor insurrection. Only trespassing. They are de facto political prisoners; held indefinitely to satisfy a policy more akin to banana republics, plutocracies, and communist dictatorships.

A such, the Air Force veteran was arbitrarily denied a proper and formal military funeral.

“When we scattered her ashes, I had them dedicated to patriotic people. They did a flag ceremony for her and Taps was played for her and we honored her with respect,” Witthoeft said.

Earlier this month, an attorney for Babbitt’s family announced plans for a $10 million wrongful death lawsuit against the Capitol Police and the unidentified officer, claiming Babbitt’s death resulted from an “ambush” attack against her.

That anonymous officer was cleared of wrongdoing in April by the U.S. Justice Department, which claimed there was “insufficient evidence” to support a criminal prosecution.

The officer’s identity is set to be revealed tonight.

Also, don’t fret over Afghanistan. Nothing to see there.
