‘Sex and the City’ actress trolls Cuomo after his ridiculous Emmy award is stripped

Emmy-award-winning Sex and the City actress Cynthia Nixon is not giving any rhetorical love to the so-called Luv Guv.

The far-left, former Andrew Cuomo political rival trolled the scandal-ridden, ex-Democrat governor of New York on Twitter by quipping that “The difference between me and Andrew Cuomo? Neither of us is governor, but I still have my Emmy(s).”

The Sex and the City television and film franchise star was reacting to the cancellation of Cuomo’s 2020 Emmy award — that he originally received in connection with his grandstanding COVID-19-related press conferences — in the aftermath of the sexual harassment allegations that drove him from office.

“The International Academy [of Television Arts & Sciences] announced today that in light of the New York Attorney General’s report, and Andrew Cuomo’s subsequent resignation as Governor, it is rescinding his special 2020 International Emmy® Award. His name and any reference to his receiving the award will be eliminated from International Academy materials going forward,” the organization announced in a statement on Tuesday.

Nixon ran against Cuomo in the 2018 Democrat gubernatorial primary, but lost in a landslide.

“During her campaign against Cuomo, Nixon called him ‘famously vengeful’ and said she decided to challenge him because ‘bullies have to be confronted,'” the New York Post recalled. “Although Cuomo outspent her 10-to-1, Nixon’s progressive platform forced him to move to the left on issues including marijuana legalization and restoring voting rights to ex-cons.”

Nixon won a 2004 Emmy for outstanding supporting actress in a comedy series for her Sex and the City role as Miranda Hobbes. She followed up with an Emmy win in 2008 as outstanding guest actress in a drama series for a role on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.

The vapid and gullible liberal media and entertainment sector, a.k.a. the “Cuomosexuals” (and obviously Sex and the City star Nixon was not among them), fawned over the now-disgraced Cuomo for his so-called leadership during the height of the pandemic.

This cult-like behavior turned out to be even beyond repulsive given the governor’s disastrous decision to send COVID-positive patients into nursing homes, resulting in thousands of fatalities — plus the apparent cover-up that followed.

It remains to be seen if Andrew Cuomo will be held legally accountable for the nursing home deaths. Rudy Giuliani claimed in a recent radio interview the Cuomo’s resignation was a way to short-circuit a state-level investigation into the nursing home scandal, a probe into which has already been dropped by Biden’s Justice Department.

“People in New York have no idea how ridiculous these Democrats are and how crooked they are,” the ex-NYC mayor insisted.

When the TV award was bestowed in November 2020, International Academy President & CEO Bruce L. Paisner lauded Cuomo:

The Governor’s 111 daily briefings worked so well because he effectively created television shows, with characters, plot lines, and stories of success and failure. People around the world tuned in to find out what was going on, and New York tough became a symbol of the determination to fight back.

In a tweet around the same time, the organization praised Cuomo for “his masterful use of TV to inform & calm people around the world.”

Fox News host Tucker Carlson previously implied that because Andrew Cuomo was politically useful as a vocal adversary of President Donald Trump during COVID, Democrats waited until after the election to abandon him.

In perhaps failing to appreciate that both Nixon and Cuomo are or were, in one way or another, play-acting, some in the die-hard liberal Twitter cohort don’t seem to appreciate the humor of the somewhat taunting tweet.
