Following President Joe Biden’s G7 rendezvous with world leaders Tuesday, the administration played it off as if it’d been a successful meeting in which every U.S. ally had heartily agreed to the president’s otherwise widely panned Afghanistan withdrawal strategy.

But it was a lie.

“[T]he G7 leaders, and the leaders of the EU, NATO, and the UN, all agreed that we will stand united in our approach to the Taliban,” the president said at an afternoon press conference.

Listen:

The White House likewise posted a tweet claiming the meeting had fostered substantive discussion between the president and America’s allies.

“Today, President Biden met virtually with G7 leaders to discuss a continuation of our close coordination on Afghanistan policy, humanitarian assistance, and evacuating our citizens, the brave Afghans who stood with us over the last two decades, and other vulnerable Afghans,” the tweet read.

Look:

In reality, not only did the meeting last only a couple of short minutes, it reportedly left every other world leader feeling disappointed and exasperated.

“In the end it took only seven minutes for Joe Biden to pour salt into the wounds of his fractured relationship with European leaders, telling them firmly on a video call that he would not extend the 31 August deadline for US troops to stay in Kabul, as he had been asked by the French, Italians and most of all the British,” according to The Guardian.

“For Europe the episode has been a rude awakening, and a moment of sober reassessment,” The Guardian added.

The rest of the civilized world desperately wants the Biden administration to extend its withdrawal past Aug. 31st so that the tens of thousands of Afghan allies who remain trapped in the hellhole can be evacuated.

In fact, according to U.K. Prime Minister Boris Johnson, this had been the agreement all along — up until Biden unilaterally decided to cave to the demands of the Taliban.

“Boris Johnson, the U.K. prime minister, has said that the G7 had an agreement that it would tell the Taliban that it’s going to take longer than Aug. 31st to get everybody out — and the Taliban has to just deal with that,” John Roberts reported on Fox News’ “America Reports.”

“And then, that whole thing was undercut by the White House coming out and saying that President Biden is going to adhere to the Aug. 31st deadline. And in the middle of all this, we appear to have the Taliban pushing the modern world around,” he added.

Listen:

Some members of the British Parliament reportedly complained after the meeting that the “special relationship” between the United States and the U.K. is over and that relations between the two countries are poised “to enter their lowest point since Suez.”

“Suez” is a reference to the Suez Crisis, an event from the 1950s in which the U.K. was left humiliated after the U.S., the Soviet Union and the United Nations pressured the European nation into withdrawing from an invasion into Egypt.

Even Democrat lawmakers here in the U.S. believe more time is necessary for everybody, including U.S. citizens, to be evacuated from Afghanistan.

“We have a moral obligation to ensure that we get American citizens out and our Afghan partners out. There are more of those folks in the country, in Afghanistan, right now than we have the capability to evacuate between now and the end of the month,” Colorado Rep. Jason Crow, a Democrat, told reporters Tuesday.

“That’s why the mission must be extended, and we have to do what’s necessary to get people out, and it doesn’t have to do with a date on the calendar,” he added.

Listen:

But Biden disagrees, and apparently, he calls the shots. Worse, he seems to have no interest in acknowledging, let alone hearing, dissenting opinions. Nor does he seem to care about keeping his promises.

“President Joe Biden told key allies in June that he would maintain enough of a security presence in Afghanistan to ensure they could continue to operate in the capital following the main U.S. withdrawal,” Bloomberg notes, citing a British diplomatic memo.

“Biden promised U.K. Prime Minister Boris Johnson and other leaders at the Group of Seven summit in Cornwall, England, that ‘critical U.S. enablers’ would remain in place to keep Kabul safe following the drawdown of NATO forces, the note said. British officials determined the U.S. would provide enough personnel to ensure that the U.K. embassy in Kabul could continue operating,” Bloomberg adds.

But as usual, it appears Biden lied once again
