Military gives Biden a deadline to decide on Afghanistan troop withdrawal, Schiff issues ominous warning

The U.S. military has reportedly given President Joe Biden a 24-hour deadline to decide whether or not to extend the deadline for evacuations and to withdraw forces from Afghanistan.

“Military advisers have told the White House that the decision must be made by Tuesday in order to have enough time to withdraw the 5,800 troops currently on the ground, as well as their equipment and weapons. If the President agrees, the military anticipates ‘a few more days’ of trying to evacuate as many people as possible before the drawdown of US forces begins, possibly at the end of this week,” CNN reported on Monday.

“The Pentagon’s decision-making ultimatum for Biden follows the Taliban’s declaration that the US must remove all forces by August 31 — a deadline that US military officials say they are still currently planning to meet. Biden and senior US national security officials, meanwhile, have said that if need be, the mission to extract US citizens and some Afghans could continue beyond August 31,” the media outlet added.

Meanwhile, Rep. Adam Schiff warned that the airport in Kabul could be targeted by ISIS-Khorasan and al-Qaeda. “I think the threat to the airport is very real, very substantial… this would make a very attractive target for ISIS-K,” Schiff told Fox News following a classified Afghanistan briefing.

Schiff went on to say that he was concerned about the threat from terrorist organizations within Afghanistan. He believes these groups could “cause chaos that might prolong the U.S. stay in a way that ISIS-K believes might suit their interest.”

“It’s a very real risk, I think, to our aircraft, to our personnel, to people who have congregated around the airport,” the California Democrat stated. “Whenever you have a mass gathering like that, it is an opportunity for improvised and other explosive devices.”

Former Acting Director of United States National Intelligence Richard Grenell is wondering why the media is just now catching on about this development and Schiff’s seemingly calculated media appearance.

“Ryan Nobles doesn’t know that Schiff was briefed awhile ago and stayed silent? Yikes. Why are the DC Intel reporters just now waking up? And now letting the Intel Chairman get away with months of silence? The serious warnings started in May,” Grenell tweeted.

Biden set a deadline of August 31st to get all Americans out of Afghanistan months ago. It’s obvious that the chances of getting everyone out by the deadline now are pretty remote. G7 allies and leaders in America are pushing for Biden to extend the deadline. The Taliban says it’s a no-go and they are not budging on it.

A Taliban spokesman has declared that the deadline is a “red line” for them. They are threatening “consequences” if Americans are not gone by the deadline.

“If the U.S. or UK were to seek additional time to continue evacuations — the answer is no,” Taliban spokesman Suhail Shaheen flatly stated. “Or there would be consequences. It will create mistrust between us. If they are intent on continuing the occupation it will provoke a reaction.”

The White House is now claiming they have evacuated more than 48,000 people from Kabul. Approximately 3,300 of those are Americans. There are reportedly thousands of  Americans still trapped behind enemy lines in Afghanistan and the Biden administration has been hinting all along that they won’t be able to evacuate everyone.

Defense officials allegedly told Reuters that almost everything would have to go perfectly in order for the U.S. to pull all American citizens out of Afghanistan by Aug. 31 due to concerns at the Kabul airport, the threat of potential terrorist attacks, and complicated processing times.

Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said the military is working towards the August 31 deadline. “That is the mission we’ve been assigned by the Commander-in-Chief… that’s what we’re trying to execute,” Kirby told reporters at a press briefing on Monday.

Schiff is still massively unpopular among Americans and many have little use for him or Biden:
