Biden even loses lapdog Geraldo as Afghanistan crumbles: ‘What the hell did COVID have to do with’ it

President Joe Biden’s attempt to pivot away from the Afghanistan disaster and back to COVID-19 was too much even for Biden apologist Geraldo Rivera.

Biden’s speech on Wednesday about a vaccine booster shot program starting in late September, during which he also threatened possible legal action against governors like Florida’s Ron DeSantis who have ruled out a statewide public school mask mandate, was “pitiful” and “pathetic,” the Fox News correspondent-at-large said.

Rivera, who is also a fanboy for mandatory vaccinations and vaccine passports, the Hamas terrorist organization, along with mass illegal immigration, among other liberal priorities, condemned Biden during a segment on “The Five,” which started with a clip of the U.S. secretary of defense acknowledging that U.S. citizens in the Afghan theater are essentially on their own until they can get to the Kabul airport for rescue.

“Can I just say something about the president’s ill-time speech? It was pitiful. It was pathetic. And you know I try to give him every due respect. He’s the president of the United States. I think he’s a nice person,” Rivera, who is sitting in the show’s liberal chair, asserted about Biden’s attempt to change the subject.

“What the hell that COVID speech had to do with the price of beans, I don’t know. And he delivered it as if someone said, ‘Here’s a good idea. Why don’t you speak about the COVID booster and take their minds off of what they’re seeing on the TV news’…and then he was blinking and missing words. I thought it was really, really…discordant,” Dan Bongino’s frequent sparring partner added.

Panelist Dagen McDowell countered that it was inappropriate to describe Biden as pitiful. “That is something that is worthy of our pity. He is not worthy of anything. He is a failure in both deed and now word to get up in front of the American people and say nothing about the Americans and allies stranded in Afghanistan and the disaster that unfolds in front of our faces.”

She went on to recall that the Democrat establishment including Obama was not thrilled with the idea of Biden running for president in the first place. “They didn’t want their image sullied…they didn’t want to hitch their wagon to this disaster. He is completely incompetent…this is a shell sold to us by the media who lied about Trump for four years.”

Reacting to the attempt by Biden and his handlers to change the subject, co-host Greg Gutfeld quipped that “we learned today that Ron DeSantis is worse than the Taliban…Biden and the Democratic Party desperately need a country to be scared of COVID or they’re going to lose the grip on the presidency and their gonna lose their power, because they’re in huge trouble right now…He might be a mortally wounded president from this.”

In a form of projection typical for Democrats, Biden claimed in his speech that “Some politicians are trying to turn public safety measures — children wearing masks in school — into political disputes for their own political gain.”

GOP Gov. DeSantis rhetorically fired back on the “Hannity” program on Wednesday evening. “He is obsessed with having the government force kindergartners to wear masks all day in school. In Florida, we believe that that’s the parents’ decision. Joe Biden thinks the federal government should come in and overrule the parents and force these young kids to wear these masks…where are your priorities that you’re so obsessed with this issue and so obsessed with taking away parents’ rights? And you’re letting Afghanistan burn, our border burn, and so many other things in our country fall to pieces.”

Rivera– who reported from the Afghan theater as a war correspondent — accused Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Gen. Mark Milley, who are “at the fulcrum of history,” of a CYA attempt.

He also suggested that the U.S. military made a big mistake by not keeping control at “impregnable” Bagram airfield rather than “chaotic” Kabul airport. He went on to say if the Taliban expects international recognition by “the family of nations,” they need to let the stranded Americans leave the country.

Co-host Jesse Watters scoffed that Taliban fighters are “basically travel agents.”

Twitter is now weighing in about Rivera’s latest outburst:
