The Biden administration’s veritable abandonment of both U.S. citizens and America’s Afghan allies in Afghanistan is an inexcusable offense that warrants, at minimum, a full “top-down investigation,” according to two retired military veterans.

Both veterans — former Trump administration official and current Georgia State Senate candidate Latham Saddler, and U.S. Senate candidate from Arkansas Jake Bequette — expressed their exasperation during an appearance Tuesday on Fox News’ “Fox News @ Night.”

The first one up to speak, Saddler expressed concern over the Afghan allies who assisted him while he’d been serving in Afghanistan.

“We spent a lot of time together. I’m concerned about the Afghans that hosted me when I backpacked through the region in 2009. And we just abandon them as a country? The message that this sends across the world is tragic. It sends a message of weakness to our adversaries and our allies alike,” he said.

“President Biden, he is surrounded by folks up there, they don’t see the world how it is. They see the world how they want it to be. This is a perfect example of that. I think it’s time for accountability,” Saddler continued.

“We can complain about things all day, but it’s time to hold folks accountable. I will tell you at the top of the list, where is our secretary of defense? I have heard nothing out of him. This was basic military operation and it was failure at all levels. It’s time for a top-down investigation of the way the Pentagon operates,” he added.

Speaking next, Bequette drew attention to the countless American citizens who’ve also been abandoned and wondered why all the planes flying out of Afghanistan have been populated with Afghan refugees versus America’s own first.

“Everyone sees those images of Afghans clinging to the cargo plane. We should look at the interior of those planes. I’m seeing hundreds of Afghan migrants mostly military-age males. Where are the American citizens?” he said.

“We have thousands of U.S. citizens who are trapped behind enemy lines in Kabul right now due to Joe Biden’s incompetence. This is the United States of America. We do not leave Americans behind!” he added.

There are an estimated 15,000 minimum Americans stranded in Afghanistan.

“President Biden is doing that. We saw his press conference yesterday. It was pathetic. He took no questions. He wanted a way back in the basement. They drove him back to the White House,” Bequette continued.

“Our enemies worldwide, the Chinese, see this as they look towards Taiwan. The Iranians and North Koreans see this as they look towards advancing their nuclear agenda. The Russians see it. They looked towards eastern Europe. This is pathetic and we are seeing the consequences of weakness in the White House and the United States,” he added.

Not til Tuesday, in fact, did the president finally cut his vacation short and make a permanent return to the White House.

The administration claims for its part that it’s working on retrieving Americans, but its “work” hasn’t been impressive thus far.

“Several congressional staffers told me that American citizens in Kabul have been flooding their office’s phone lines, complaining that after being told on Sunday by the State Department to shelter in place and not to come to the embassy or the airport, they have not received any further information and are scared for their lives,” Josh Rogin of The Washington Post reported Monday.

By Tuesday the situation seemed no better.

“National security officials in the Biden administration told a bipartisan group of Senate staffers on Tuesday that about 10,000 to 15,000 U.S. citizens remain in Afghanistan,” according to an updated Post report.

But it gets worse.

The Post noted in its updated reports that the national security officials — including the Joint Chiefs of Staff — confirmed that “there is no plan to evacuate Americans who are outside Kabul, as they do not have a way of getting through the Taliban checkpoints outside the Afghan capital.”

As a reminder, the Joint Chiefs of Staff chairman is Gen. Mark Milley, the “woke” general obsessed with “white rage” …

When the time for accountability comes, many are hopeful that he will be among those on the chopping block.
