Larry Elder, prominent conservative talk radio host and a leading candidate in the California gubernatorial recall election, vows to end mask and vaccine mandates in the Golden State if elected.
“When I become governor, assuming there are mandates for masks and statewide mandates for vaccines, they will be suspended right away,” said Elder during a news conference on Zoom, according to a report by the San Francisco Chronicle. “This is America. We have freedom in America.”
While Elder himself has been vaccinated and believes “vaccines work” he said he doesn’t believe the government should decide for people. He thinks that the irreversible health care decision of whether or not to get a vaccine should be up to each person. Elder indicated that he personally chose to get vaccinated under his doctor’s advice due to his age, 69, and an underlying health condition.
Elder, who calls himself the “The Sage from South Central,” also took to Twitter to confirm his position and make clear that any face mask or vaccine mandates in place will be “immediately revoked,” not if, but when he is elected governor.
1) Do I believe there were shenanigans in the 2020 presidential election? Yes. But it’s time to focus on retaking the White House in 2024.

Elder announced his pledge a short time after Governor Gavin Newsom (D-CA) introduced a new mandate set to go into effect on August 23 that will require healthcare workers to be vaccinated or submit to weekly testing. The authoritarian-esque policy doesn’t seem to take into account the possibility of “breakthrough” cases, such as the emergency room nurse in California that tested positive for COVID-19 just eight days after getting the jab.
Elder, whose campaign slogan is “We’ve got a state to save,” was lauded for his common sense approach to the pandemic.
Gavin Newsom is a hypocritical anti-science tyrant.
Larry Elder will end mask & vaccine mandates.
Your choice is easy, California.

I am looking very forward to casting my vote for THE SAGE!!!!

Thank God… wearing a mask to prevent COVID is like throwing sand at a chain link fence… still getting through.

Agree 1,000%. That’s precisely why these mask mandates were ALWAYS so silly. The masks mandates are theater like the TSA checks at airports. If they were serious they would mandate mask types/grades/etc. But they don’t….because the public is mostly ignorant about this stuff.

Recent polls have shown Elder is leading among some 46 candidates vying to replace Newsom.
Despite Newsom attempting to blame racism and far right-wing extremists for the recall campaign, the Washington Examiner tweeted last week, “some right-wing conspiracy this is not,” noting that a new poll showed Newsom was trailing with Latinos by six points and with vaccinated Californians by 4 points.
Newsom is currently losing in the recall polls. Larry Elder is winning the replacement polls. The likeliness of Governor Larry Elder is, right now, more likely than not. Lol. pic.twitter.com/JR9zKnuWiM

The momentum of Elder’s campaign appears to be hitting a nerve with Newsom. Last week he lashed out at a reporter and argued that everyone outside of California is, “b****ing about this state.”
“I’m a future ex-Governor,” Newsom admitted. “It could happen in a few weeks, it could happen in a few years. I love this damn state.”
