U.S. climate envoy John Kerry is facing backlash over accusations that he used a private jet to travel to Martha’s Vineyard for former President Barack Hussein Obama’s lavish and notably crowded birthday bash, though he claims it’s all a misunderstanding.

The accusation emerged from the Daily Mail.

“Presidential enjoy for climate John Kerry took a private jet to the island of Martha’s Vineyard,” the outlet wrote in a report published Saturday.

Given Kerry’s job and his constant lectures about the alleged threat of climate change, the Daily Mail’s report naturally triggered outrage.

Look:

However, the outrage may have been slightly misplaced. In fact, in a statement to the Washington Examiner, a State Department spokesperson claimed it’s all a big misunderstanding.

“Secretary Kerry lives on Martha’s Vineyard. He did not travel there for a party. He took a ferry to Martha’s Vineyard. He did not fly commercial or private,” the spokesperson said.

It’s true that he lives on Martha’s Vineyard.

“The former U.S. senator and secretary of state purchased a seven-bedroom waterfront house dating to 1924 in the Chilmark neighborhood of Martha’s Vineyard,” Town & Country magazine reported in 2017.

The property was reportedly purchased for over $10 million.

The problem is that there’s a photo showing Kerry literally stepping off what appears to be a private jet onto Martha’s Vineyard on Saturday.

Look:

This photo seems to contract the claim that he “took a ferry” to the island. It also contradicts his years and years and years of lecturing Americans about how they need to make personal “sacrifices” to stave off the alleged threat of climate change.

To be fair to Kerry, virtually everything he does appears to be a contradiction to what he preaches. He’s already taken 16 private flights this year alone, for instance, several of them within the span of just the past week, according to the New York Post.

“[T]he most recent flight on Kerry’s family jet was on Wednesday when it traveled from Idaho’s Friedman Memorial Airport to Boston. Trips were also made earlier this week between Idaho and California. Kerry and his wife Teresa have vacationed in Idaho’s Sun Valley for decades, local media reports say,” the Post reported Thursday.

And so according to him, it’s apparently OK for his family to produce copious amounts of carbon so long as it helps them get to their vacation spots faster.

An analysis conducted by Fox News at the start of the year found that his family’s private trips produced 116 metric tons of carbon between Feb. 9th, 2020, and Jan. 10th, 2021.

“For comparison, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) estimates that the typical passenger vehicle emits about 4.6 metric tons of carbon dioxide per year,” according to Fox News.

This sort of rampant hypocrisy really irritates conservatives, though there’s no shortage of far-left groupies willing to defend Kerry and point to former President Donald Trump’s jet-faring habits as proof that conservatives are the real hypocrites.

Observe:

There’s just one problem. Trump never once lectured the American people about the alleged threat of climate change and demanded they make personal sacrifices.

Also, note what the first Twitter user up top wrote: “Silver star, bronze star, three purple hearts. He can fly whatever he wants.”

And there it is. Because Kerry is special — because he’s one of the privileged elite — he’s allowed to do whatever he wants just like Barack Obama, just like Nancy Pelosi, just like Gavin Newsom, just like Texas Democrats, just like Ralph Northam, just like so many others always on the left, but never on the right.

In other words, rules for thee, but not for me.
