Fox News host Greg Gutfeld stomped all over CNN on Friday for its skewed coverage of skyrocketing crime rates and shredded anchor Jim Acosta who name-dropped a ritzy restaurant in D.C. while reporting on a shooting that was taking place just a short distance away.
“The Five” co-host addressed the shooting that took place this week in the upscale Logan Circle district of Washington, D.C. which is just a mile or so from the White House. He noted that Acosta called into “Anderson Cooper 360” from 14th Street NW, which was right on top of the crime scene.
While two diners were shot and sirens were blaring, Acosta took the time to mention the posh restaurant he was frequenting when the gunfire broke out. “Anderson, I was having dinner at a restaurant that is very popular in D.C: Le Diplomate — people probably have heard of it. It is on 14th Street in Northwest Washington,” Acosta reported.
Gutfeld tore into Acosta’s lame reporting as well as CNN hosts Don Lemon and Chris Cuomo who ridiculed “conservative media” for covering escalating crime rates in major cities and across the nation.

“You would think entire cities are just, you know, enthralled in fights, fires, and whatever,” Lemon noted to Cuomo in a prior discussion.
“There were people dying, and they were laughing about it. Those two clowns Cuomo and Lemon were actually — they were mocking people concerned. They were laughing about it,” Gutfeld railed.
The conservative host then accused CNN of having “covered up” the exploding crime rates in American cities. He also eviscerated Acosta, saying “I don’t know if you can find a larger a** than Jim Acosta. CNN has been engaging in a cover-up of violent crime for quite a while.”
“They did it for political reasons. They did it because they wanted Biden in …,” Gutfeld stated.
Then he compared the response of the CNN hosts to that of the 2020 incident involving former ESPN sports reporter Chris Palmer. He called for people to “burn that s**t down” in reference to the riots that occurred after the death of George Floyd. Palmer’s tone changed dramatically when violent protesters showed up in his Los Angeles community. He then tweeted “get these animals out of my neighborhood.”

“Remember the guy … on Twitter, an ESPN reporter or a contributor who tweeted ‘burn it down’ until the riots got to him and breached his community. And what did he do? He called 911,” recalled Gutfeld.
“I said this at the table a while ago: It is not until the crime affects the national media that they will make it a national story. Until then, it is a local story. To Acosta’s point, it is only of interest because they can put themselves into the story. It is an ego-driven story,” he posited. “It’s now at the restaurants where they dine, Don Lemon.”
Gutfeld applied the same line of argument to politicians such as Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) who goaded her supporters to “get in the face” of Trump administration officials and “tell them they’re not welcome … at a gasoline station.”
“Crime doesn’t exist until it gets in their face. Do you remember the protest happening and Maxine Waters [saying] you got to get in their face? Maybe they were right. The crime has to get in their face, right? That is the only way they understand – if it’s in their face,” he commented.
Gutfeld lavished praise on Washington Metropolitan Police Chief Robert Contee III for his emphatic remarks that were aimed at crime-fighting in the wake of the shooting.
