‘The Five’ entire quintet blasts Democrats’ amnesty push in $3.5T infrastructure bill

The entire quintet on The Five is calling out Democrats for trying, in a raw political power play, to stuff the $3.5 trillion infrastructure bill with amnesty for million of illegal aliens before they might lose control of the legislative agenda in the 2022 election. Immigration is not infrastructure, the group insisted, despite what liberals contend in their talking points.

Congressional Democrats want to pass the budget deal through the so-called reconciliation process, which would circumvent a Republican filibuster in the 50-50 U.S. Senate. Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WVa.) apparently backs the strategy, which could make stopping it problematic.

The segment on the Fox News Channel program began with a video clip of mostly adult male illegal immigrants trying to push their way through a gate into Texas at the border city of Del Rio.

To further set the table, co-host Martha MacCallum included a separate clip of U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) from the Ingraham Angle in which he commented on the Democrat scheme to jam through amnesty via a bill that was supposed to be about repairing America’s bridges, roads, and the like.

Graham described the Democrats’ plan as “the dumbest idea in the history of the Senate and the White House” which will cause an “invasion” of illegal immigration. “It will put jet fuel on the system which is already broken. If you give one person legal status, there will be a run on our border like you’ve never seen before.”

“It will lead to a breakdown of law and order beyond what you see today,” Graham ominously predicted if amnesty is included in the infrastructure appropriation.

Fox News contributor Harold Ford, Jr., a former congressman from Tennessee who positions himself as a moderate Democrat, disagreed with Graham only to the extent that it amounts to the dumbest idea ever “because there is a lot of competition.”

Ford, who says he supports the border wall and advocates for stronger Border Patrol enforcement first, added that the U.S. needs a comprehensive aid strategy for the entire hemisphere to address the migrant issue, especially given the pro-democracy uprising in Cuba.

“Any Democrat that votes for this is probably setting him- or herself up for defeat next November….it’s just bad policy, put aside the politics,” he added.

Co-host Jesse Watters was up next and noted the hypocrisy of the vaccine hawks in the Biden administration allowing unvaccinated illegal immigrants from all over the world, not just from Central America, to pour into the county in an open invitation designed to create more Democrat voters.

“[Del Rio] is very powerful piece of footage because it will influence how people see the Biden border crisis…this is not something that’s gonna gain sympathy in the American people’s eyes… If [Biden] right now continues this policy, we’re on pace for 2.3 million illegals. Think about how many we’re not catching. And he’s basically releasing 30 to 40 percent of them into this country… and there’s no way we know who these people are,” Watters explained.

He then went on to quote U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) who reportedly claimed that new, foreign-born voters don’t vote Republican, which Watters said is reflected in demographic statistical trends rather than part of a conspiracy theory.

“Forget the politics,” Watters continued. “There is a 900 percent increase in COVID cases in the Rio Grande sector right now…and so now [Biden] is gonna say that it is dangerous to post something about a vaccine on Facebook, but it’s not dangerous to let in hundreds of thousands of unvaccinated migrants into the country and then bus them to swing states? That’s crazy.”

Apparently, the migrants in the Del Rio footage were let into the country.

Upon taking office, Joe Biden and his team halted border wall construction, ended the Remain in Mexico policy for asylum seekers, and brought back catch and release. The open-borders policy has created a law enforcement, humanitarian, and public health crisis at the border region.

The Border Patrol has reportedly detained about one million migrants at the southern border since January 2021, many of whom authorities have released into America’s interior with reportedly the help of the U.S. military, and which also suggests — as Watters noted — that untold numbers have evaded detection.

Panelist Dagen McDowell then chimed in about the “left-wing nuts in Washington, D.C.”

The end game for Democrats is “a vast entitlement state,” she asserted. “Getting all of America, essentially, addicted to government handouts. That’s what they want to do,” she said.

McDowell scoffed at one lawmaker who claimed that citizenship is “essential infrastructure” for immigrant families.

“Well, no. Amnesty is essential infrastructure for the Democrat Party. It is the very foundation and the future of the Democrat’s retaining power…it smacks of desperation that they know they’re going to lose in the midterms….crime, inflation, this — L-O-S-E, out.”

As the segment concluded, Greg Gutfeld said that corporate America loves the idea of getting more access to cheap labor because “it’s a few steps away from slave labor.”

“Maybe a few more than you think,” Ford observed.

“That’s a good point,” Gutfeld admitted.

“Democrats will need unanimous support from their Senate caucus to pass any reconciliation bill. While a budget reconciliation bill would not include immigration reform per se, the current Democratic proposal includes funding to grant a path to citizenship for millions of undocumented immigrants….the budget bill could ultimately regularize the status of up to 10 million people. Still, the Senate parliamentarian has yet to rule whether funding for immigration regularizations has enough budgetary impact to warrant inclusion in a reconciliation bill,” The Hill reported.
