Nikole Hannah-Jones learns not to tangle with Megyn Kelly, who informs her: ‘We all know what you did’

Megyn Kelly and 1619 Project principal author Nikole Hannah-Jones are unlikely to be exchanging Christmas cards anytime soon after clashing on social media over Kelly reminding ordinary Americans that their voices matter.

Kelly was reacting to a surprising decision from Education Secretary Miguel Cardona that apparently dropped the stipulation that divisive curriculum based on the equivalent of the 1619 Project or material developed by critical race theory advocate Ibram X. Kendi be a requirement for new federal history/civics grants.

According to the Parents Defending Education grassroots organizations, nearly 34,000 comments poured into the U.S. Department of Education in opposing what amounts to far-left, America Last propaganda.

“[T]he vast majority expressed concern over the Biden administration’s support for making racism and slavery the centerpiece of American history,” PDE noted.

This outcome was very much to the liking of Megyn Kelly (who previously pulled her own kids from a pricey private school that went woke), but apparently not so much for Hannah-Jones, whose Twitter handle is Ida Bae Wells, as this battle of the journalists heated up.

“This is great! The [people] pushed back against the feds rewarding schools that teach Kendi & the 1619 project and it worked! Remember: the loudest voices on Twitter (which is far-Left)/the news (which is “woke”) do not represent the majority of Americans. Your voice matters,” Kelly triumphantly wrote.

“I guess it’s good you no longer pretend to be a journalist anymore. Be well,” Nikole Hannah-Jones — who it turns out is a cheerleader for communist Cuba — fired back.

Kelly responded to Hannah-Jones with an apparent reference to a 2020 clarification by the author who conceded that the much-hyped New York Times material paints America with too broad a negative brush as well alluding to historians from across the ideological spectrum who found the accuracy of the project dubious.

The premise by the authors is that 1619, when slaves first arrived on our shores, rather than 1776, was the year of America’s founding.

“Says the woman who quietly tried to cleanse her dishonest ‘reporting’ without even having the spine to own her shameful errors. This is why scholars from the [left and right] have panned your work as anti-historical & dangerous. It belongs nowhere near K-12 education,” Kelly tweeted.

Hannah-Jones then took a trip down memory lane by recalling a comment by then-Fox News host Kelly — circa December 2013 — that prompted a controversy when she insisted that Santa Claus is a white dude.

On Twitter, Kelly dismissed that remark as a mere deflection.

“I see you’re not denying the charge. (Because you can’t.) No matter, we all know what you did.”

Hannah-Jones then shared the title page of the 1619 Project, which indicates it won a Pulitzer Prize for the New York Times Magazine. Still, most people would give this particular win to Megyn Kelly in the exchange.

Although the Pulitzer may be a resume or credibility enhancer in some quarters, many knowledgeable observers have concluded that outside of scientific honors, the award, in general, has devolved into yet another award handed out to log-rolling liberals as a reward for promoting a particular narrative.

After falling short as a lifestyle diva on the NBC “Today” show (where the well-publicized Halloween controversy — which Nikole Hannah-Jones didn’t bring up, yet — hardly endeared her to skittish network executives), Megyn Kelly launched her own podcast and has moved noticeably to the right.

Kelly is heading to SiriusXM for a daily talk show that debuts in September.

As alluded to above, Hannah-Jones previously praised the brutal, 62-year-old dictatorship in Cuba as the greatest model for equality in the Western hemisphere which she attributed to socialism. The Cuban people are currently rising up against that totalitarian regime.

A satellite radio debate between Kelly and Hannah-Jones would seem to be a must-listen, if the principals can agree to schedule it.
