For all their lecturing of the American people about the coronavirus vaccine, President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris were originally some of the biggest anti-vaxxer skeptics in the country, according to the Republican National Committee.

A video mashup produced by the political committee this week ostensibly proves it. The mashup contains pre-2020 presidential election clips of both Biden and Harris raising concerns about a potential coronavirus vaccine.

Watch:

Their statements are listed below in the order they were played:

Sept. 2020 CNN Interview

Asked during a Sept. 2020 CNN interview whether she’d get the vaccine if it were released before the election, Harris said, “Well, I think that’s gotta be an issue for all of us.”

During that same interview, she claimed that scientists were being “muzzled,” “suppressed” and sidelined.”

“Because he’s looking at an election coming up in less than 60 days and he’s grasping to get whatever he can to pretend he has been a leader on this issue when he is not,” she said.

However, Moncef Slaoui, the then-chief adviser to Operation Warp Speed, confirmed at the time that none of this was true: “I have to say there has been absolutely no interference,” he said, as reported by CNN.

Aug. 2020 Yahoo News Interview

In a Yahoo News interview that August, Biden predicted, “If and when the vaccine comes, it’s not likely to go through all the tests … and trials that are needed to be done.”

He was wrong.

“The vaccines for the novel coronavirus went through the same layers of review and testing as other vaccines. Due to the dire nature of the pandemic, certain barriers to development, related to funding and manufacturing, were removed,” the University of Maryland Medical System confirmed four months later.

Sept. 2020 Orlando Station WKMG Interview

In this interview in September of 2020, Biden outright suggested it would be unsafe to take a coronavirus vaccine shot because then-President Donald Trump “continues to mislead and lie.’

“An enormous pressure put on the CDC not to put out the detailed guidelines. Enormous pressure being put on the FDA to say the following protocol will have a giant impact on COVID. All these things turn out not to be true, and when a president continues to mislead and lie,” he said.

“When we finally do, God willing, get a vaccine, who’s going to take the shot? Who’s going to take the shot? Are you going to be the first one to say sign me up?”

July 2020 Delaware Campaign Event

At a campaign event in summer 2020, Biden questioned whether a vaccine produced by the Trump administration would even be “real.”

“The question of whether it’s real, when it’s there, that requires enormous transparency. You got to make all of it available to other experts across the nation, so they can look and see. So there’s consensus, this is a safe vaccine,” he said.

“Because already you have, what percent is American people saying if the vaccine were there tomorrow, they wouldn’t take it? And it’s not the usual anti-vaccine crowd it’s beyond that because people are losing faith in what the president says. Think about it.”

It’s not clear if he realized that he was partly responsible for the public’s lack of faith in the coronavirus vaccine.

Sept. 2020 AFL-CIO Virtual Event

During a virtual union event in September of 2020, Biden was asked if he’d take the vaccine if it were announced the day after. He replied that he would, but only if certain stipulations were met.

“Only if it was completely transparent, that other experts in the country could look at it. Only if we knew all of what went into it, because so far nothing he’s told us has been true,” he said, referencing to then-President Trump.

Virtually everything the former president said about the coronavirus vaccine turned out to be true, including his claim that a vaccine would be out by year’s end.

Sept. 2020 Delaware Campaign Event

Despite multiple administration officials, including Dr. Anthony Fauci, having repeatedly said at the time that the coronavirus vaccine development process hadn’t been politicized, Biden continued to cast doubt.

“Last week, Senator Harris and I laid out three questions this administration is going to have to answer to assure the American people that politics will not play a role whatsoever in the vaccine process,” he said in September of 2020.

“If Donald Trump can’t give answers and the administration can’t give answers to these three questions, the American people should not have confidence. But if they can, they should have confidence in the transparency they need to trust the vaccine and adopt it in numbers that will make a difference.”

Oct. 2020 Vice Presidential Debate

Asked during the vice presidential debate in October whether she’d take the vaccine if the Trump administration produced it before the election, Harris said she wouldn’t if it Trump told her to take it.

“If the public health professionals, if Dr. Fauci, if the doctors tell us that we should take it, I’ll be the first in line to take it, absolutely. But if Donald Trump tells us that we should take it, I’m not taking it,” she said.
