The Marxist Black Lives Matter organization blamed America for the riots in Cuba earlier this week and while some tweets age better than others, a newly unearthed tweet from BLM provides a little more context on precisely why they blamed America –not communism– for the unrest.
When Cuban dictator Fidel Castro died in 2016, BLM tweeted “Rest in Power #FidelCastro”.
It would be generous to call Castro’s communist policies oppressive, but BLM did not stop their glorification of the dictator there.
One Twitter user rediscovered a 2016 piece for Medium in which BLM commemorated Castro’s “legacy.”
The plot thickens!

“There is an overwhelming sense of loss, complicated by fear and anxiety…we must push back against the rhetoric of the right and come to the defense of El Comandante. And there are lessons that we must revisit and heed as we pick up the mantle in changing our world, as we aspire to build a world rooted in a vision of freedom and the peace that only comes with justice. It is the lessons that we take from Fidel,” the piece noted.
To be clear, BLM is advocating for the remembrance of lessons from a dictator who denied his people basic freedoms, starved them, and denied them access to sufficient healthcare and education. Most would call Castro a monster, but BLM chose to canonize his atrocities. It almost reads as though the dictator himself wrote it.
“With Fidel’s passing there is one more lesson that stands paramount: when we are rooted in collective vision when we bind ourselves together around quests for infinite freedom of the body and the soul, we will be victorious. As Fidel ascends to the realm of the ancestors, we summon his guidance, strength, and power as we recommit ourselves to the struggle for universal freedom. Fidel Vive!” the authors sanctimoniously concluded.
If the communist connection weren’t glaring enough, BLM founder Alicia Garza has a venture called Black Futures Lab that “is a fiscally sponsored project of the Chinese Progressive Association.” In fact, if you click the “Donate” button on the website, you will be prompted to send your donation to CPA, which unashamedly promotes the People’s Republic of China.

Those who don’t embrace BLM or its Marxist values took their outrage to Twitter. The news even had some supporters questioning their loyalty to the organization:
In siding w Communist overseers in Cuba BLM Inc has laid bare to the world that it was never about race so much as destroying America and pushing Marxism. Siding w Castroism over oppressed Afro Cubans is a tipping point. But maybe BLM got a beachfront house out of the deal.

BLM blames the United States, pretty much exclusively, for what’s happening in Cuba. BLM actually stands with Cuba’s oppressive, dictatorial government. This BLM statement is way worse than embarrassing. https://t.co/nf9FqQKVmO

I’m very disappointed that @Blklivesmatter put out such an uninformed statement regarding Cuba…particularly when it silences so many Black Cubans who have been protesting and putting themselves at risk who consider BLM to be part of them and their movement too.

The black communists have spoken
BLM doesn’t condemn the communist Cuban regime for oppressing its people in Cuba, but blames the United States
Again, why would they? They are of the same psychopath communist flock https://t.co/i9kpDHpYW5

The intellectual bankruptcy of #BLM, obvious in this statement
1 Cuba isn’t a democracy and they’ve never been able to choose their government
2 the US has a lower population of blacks and still had a black President
3 they hate free markets but want access to free market drugs https://t.co/APrxFQHdtU— Abhijit Iyer-Mitra (@Iyervval) July 15, 2021
Can you take this down. You don’t understand the pain and suffering this man has caused my family.

I support BLM, but I thought it was a sick joke when someone posted that you all had posted this when this dictator died. Really? No. I do not support your thoughts here. There is more work to be done between all communities to understand each other’s pain.

Every other tweet is “I support blm but not this”.
Pay attention to what you support. You can’t have your cake and eat it too.

Meanwhile, US embassies are flying BLM flags.

Remember when normal people though BLM was a force for good? I remember.

I stood with the BLM movement and while I still stand with black lives and will always stand unequivocally against racism, police brutality and injustice in all forms. But I cannot stand with the leaders representing BLM. I stand against communism and dictatorships.

Black lives will FOREVER have my support, but your organization has a political agenda OVER a humanitarian one. I will not support you.
