MSNBC commentator and racial activist Al Sharpton stunningly called out black liberals over ignoring black-on-black shootings and violent crime in major cities while condemning unjustified police shootings.
“There is just as much concern about what is going on with gun violence, this kind of violence, this kind of violence that you’re talking about. In Chicago, 100 people shot over the weekend,” Sharpton said to Joe Scarborough on Wednesday’s segment of “Morning Joe.”
“We must have the balance of outrage, where we are outraged if police do things in blue uniforms, but outrage when we have people in blue jeans that are openly being criminal, acting like it’s normal in our community. It is NOT normal. It should not be accepted. People should understand the underlying issues, but they shouldn’t patronize us, like we do not know how to deal and challenge with criminal behavior,” he continued.
“Civil rights leaders, some of us are meeting with President Biden this week. We not only want to talk about voting rights, and we do, and police reform But how we have to factor in, in dealing with gun violence in this country. You can’t love our people when they’re shot by police, and then look the other way when we’re shooting each other. We have to deal with both,” Sharpton declared.

Sharpton also promoted the fact that he attended the memorial Tuesday for a white Arkansas teenager who was shot by a sheriff’s deputy.
“It is a very, very serious problem. I was in a place called Beebe, Arkansas, yesterday, doing the eulogy of a funeral of a young white teenager named Hunter Brittain that was killed by police,” he reported.
“But the irony is when I got to Little Rock, Joe, to prepare for the sermon yesterday, a black man that was working in the restaurant said, I hope you go over to what was the black community and talk about these kids shooting each other. Four kids killed each other over the weekend,” Sharpton stated referring directly to black-on-black crome.
Co-host Mika Brzezinski gave the words from the civil rights leader two “wows.”
The seventeen-year-old that was shot was Hunter Brittain. He was killed by a Lonoke County Sheriff’s Deputy named Michael Davis during a traffic stop on June 23. The deputy was fired after failing to turn his body camera on for the entirety of the incident. He only turned it on after the shooting according to THV11.
Sharpton eulogized the teen and was joined by civil rights lawyer Ben Crump who also represented George Floyd’s family. Crump is now representing the Brittain family.

“The issue of policing is not about black and white,” Sharpton remarked to a packed auditorium at Beebe High School according to ABC News. “It’s about right and wrong.”
The family contends that Brittain was killed while trying to place a bottle of antifreeze behind a tire to prevent his truck from rolling into the deputy’s vehicle.
“I don’t think Hunter would’ve expected all these people to be here for him, I mean, he knew he had people who cared about him, he knew a lot of people loved him, but I don’t think he would’ve expected all this.” Nathan Waters, who was a classmate and football teammate of Brittain’s said following the funeral.
“I feel like having Al Sharpton [and] Ben Crump come is really showing that we’re not going to stop until we get something. We’re going to keep pushing, we’re going to get justice for the boy that we loved and we all cared about,” Waters declared.

Sharpton has a history of alleged corruption, race-baiting, and attacking the police.
