Fox News commentator Brit Hume slammed the leftist Squad for getting far more attention than they deserve and for having no historical knowledge of how the civil rights movement came into being or what racism really entails.
Monday, on Fox News Channel’s “Special Report,” Hume gave his opinion on Rep. Cori Bush’s outrageously anti-American and racist tweet where she proclaimed that black people were not “free.”
“When they say that the 4th of July is about American freedom, remember this: the freedom they’re referring to is for White people. This land is stolen land and Black people still aren’t free,” Bush explosively asserted on Independence Day.
Hume started out by saying, “You know, the one thing that you never hear critics of this country, along the lines we just heard in Anita’s report, never hear them cite is some country which measures up to their standards. You never hear of another country that is doing a better job of it than we have. And there’s a reason for that. I can think of no nation on earth, perhaps no nation in history, that has tried harder or done more to bring its minority populations into the mainstream of the country with all of its freedoms and advantages. And in fact, you know, it hasn’t been all that long ago that slavery, which has been talked about more today than perhaps the Civil War, was universal… it was everywhere. Going back to biblical times, it was everywhere. This country has gone a long way, longer than I think any nation, to remedy the ills that grew out of it. The lack of freedoms, the severe violation of human rights. You never hear these critics say ‘Well, we’d rather be like this country or that country.’ They can’t in my view,” Hume declared.

“That’s one more sign of how open this country has become and how much more opportunity is available now to minority populations than ever used to be the case,” Hume noted referencing the fact that we had a two-term black president and now a black female vice president. “And that may be the case anywhere else in the world. So, my view is that the people who say these things, they do a wonderful job of getting publicity for themselves. I mean, this group, ‘The Squad,’ gets coverage far beyond its influence.”
“But you know, you wonder if they — if they have any real historical knowledge,” Hume asked. “If they remember the Civil War, and what it was fought for. They remember the civil rights movement, and its great achievements. In fact, you may have heard me say this before, Mike, but I think among the greatest achievements of the civil rights movement was the universal consensus in this country among all people against racism.”
“Being called a racist, labeled a racist is one of the worst things that can happen to you,” he added. “As because the American people simply do not approve of racism. They’re against it. And you know, that’s not true in every other country, but it’s certainly true here. These people, you know, you think they were born 10 years ago. Did they not know of these things? Did they know how — not know what it was like when we did have systemic racism even after slavery, until the civil rights movement when laws and election procedures and so forth were stacked against black people? All of that has been wiped away.”
Conservatives on Twitter wholeheartedly agreed with Hume:
I’ve already accepted the notion that we are now or soon will be living in two separate American nations. Where it all leads is troubling to put it mildly.

Their history is no deeper than what they heard and what their media ratified in the echo chamber yesterday. I wish that were hyperbole.

You’d think that, but in a couple of months democrats will circle back and tell us how the sentiment was always a republican incantation.

We need to stop assessing the left as good faith believers in their own purposeful behavior.
Where the Left isn’t ignorant, they are insincere.
They don’t believe it. They use it.

The leftwing of the democratic party has all of the power and they are ardent marxist who will never let “reasonableness” get in the way of their goals.
