President Biden surprised many with his unconditional support for Florida’s governor as he talked about finding a “good” side after the tragic and deadly condo collapse that has left 18 dead so far and nearly 150 missing.
On Thursday, Biden sat down with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL) and other officials to address the horrific catastrophe. “You know what’s good about this?” Biden asked. “It lets the nation know we can cooperate and when it’s really important.”
The president went on to say: “I just got back from 12 days in Europe. You wonder whether we can do this. And you’re doing it. I mean, just the simple act of everybody doing whatever needs to be done.”
As the dead are recovered from the rubble after the collapse of the beachfront building in Surfside, north of Miami, search and rescue efforts have been paused due to structural concerns. At this point, it is primarily a recovery effort since it is unlikely that anyone could survive a week under the ruins of the collapsed building. Biden did not delve into those issues.

DeSantis sat to Biden’s right during the briefing in Surfside. He thanked the president for federal support and Biden in turn was cordial to the governor.
“This is your show. We just want to make sure [you have] whatever you need,” Biden quietly said to DeSantis.
The Florida governor praised the response by the government, stating: “You guys have not only been supportive at the federal level, but we’ve had no bureaucracy. When we’re dealing with FEMA, we’re literally getting requests routed from local to state to federal in no time and the approval is happening.”
He added, “What we just need now is we need a little bit of luck and a little bit of prayers, and we would like to be able to see some miracles happen.”
Needless to say, Biden’s litany of historic gaffes had many ready to call him out for again saying the wrong thing at the wrong time, but others thought the rare moment of bipartisan unity was a ‘good’ thing indeed.

So Biden says there is a good side to the tragedy in Miami . That is it shows everyone can work together when it counts . I bet the families of the people smushed to pieces can think of better ways to bring people together then have tons of concrete on top of their family

Geez “Good side”? Was he whispering this or just came right out & said it out loud? Where was his nurse or minder? I thought they had people for this…

Biden is slated to meet with family members of the victims privately Thursday afternoon and then he will return to the White House according to the New York Post. He was said to have addressed local police and other emergency response workers telling them: “I just wanted to say thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you.”
“As you all know, it’s not only what you’re dealing with now, but your brothers and sisters across this country are having more pressure put on them because of the drought because when you have 121 degrees heats up in Vancouver you really got a problem,” Biden said going strangely off-topic. “I was on the Zoom call yesterday with all the Western governors and you know what they’re asking for? They need more firefighters… because, you know, last year the fire season didn’t start this early. And enough places burned down, enough territory burned to the ground — more than, bigger than the size of Rhode Island. And already it’s started early.”
White House Deputy Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre addressed Biden’s goal for the trip, telling reporters on Air Force One that he wants to “offer up comfort and show unity” in response to the tragedy.
“The White House and FEMA have been in close contact with the governor’s team to coordinate federal assistance throughout the entire process,” Jean-Pierre stated.
The media could not get enough of Biden in Florida. CNN referred to him as “the consoler-in-chief.” France 24 called him “comforter-in-chief.” They did not mention Biden’s weird statements or that he had trouble staying on topic while in Florida.
