House Speaker Nancy Pelosi proposed a new resolution on Monday to form a select committee to investigate the Capitol riot on January 6th, and the events leading up to it, that would host 13 members, 8 Democrats and 5 Republicans.
The language of the resolution specifies that that five members “shall be appointed after consultation” with Rep. Kevin McCarthy. This will allow Pelosi to consider input from the House Minority Leader, but the final decision remains on which Republicans are appointed to serve on the committee will remain up to her.
The speaker is “seriously considering including a Republican among her eight appointments to the Select Committee,” according to one of her aides.
Resolution to establish a Jan. 6 select committee provides for 13 committee members — 5 to be recommended by the minority.

Many are speculating that Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Illinois), one of the Republicans who supported the initial commission and was pro-impeachment of then-President Donald Trump, will be one of the Republicans selected to serve.
Kinzinger reportedly “does not want an investigation to turn political; he just wants to get to the truth and for the American people to have full transparency. That being said, our party blocked that first opportunity and now we need answers. Whether Congressman Kinzinger serves on the Select Committee is up to Speaker Pelosi,” his spokesperson, Maura Gillespieone, said, according to the New York Post.
Rep. Anthony Gonzalez (R-Ohio), who was also pro-impeachment following the events of January 6th, disagreed with Kinzinger’s team, saying the committee “will end up being a partisan shouting match that accomplishes next to nothing and only serves to further divide us.”
Other Republicans have similar concerns. Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler (R-Wash.) has announced she will vote against the resolution because the committee is “not going to do what we need.”
“The whole goal is getting the truth out, we’ve got to get the truth out, and I’m not afraid to stand against anybody on that front. I want something the American people can believe, and find credible. And the only way to do that I believe is a 9/11-style commission, which I voted for. I truly believe it needs to be not current members. It’s hard to go against your own team, let me tell you,” Beutler said.
“When it comes to what happened on Jan. 6, we want to get to the bottom of that. It’s disgusting what transpired that day. Unfortunately, the speaker has always played politics with this. Time and again. She’s never once talked to me about it.” McCarthy told reporters last week.
Speculation remains over whether the Minority Leader would be called to testify regarding his conversations with Trump leading up to the attack.
Pelosi has said she would leave it up to the committee to decide which witnesses they will call.
“Senate Republicans did Mitch McConnell a ‘personal favor’ rather than their patriotic duty and voted against the bipartisan commission negotiated by Democrats and Republicans. But Democrats are determined to find the truth,” Pelosi said in a statement Monday.
Republican senators previously blocked the passage of a commission to investigate the January 6 breach. The House is expected to vote to pass the resolution sometime this week after 35 House Republicans previously voted with Democrats last month in favor of the commission.
Concerns that the committee will end up being a politically charged pointing-of-fingers after Democrats have denied any culpability have been echoed all over Twitter.
Nancy Pelosi has decided to create a select committee to investigate January 6 and “get to the truth.”
Why did she ignore the FBI and NYPD warnings of violence? Why did she reject President Trump’s offer to send more police to the Capitol? Shouldn’t she be investigated, too? 🤔

If it’s her investigation she steers it away from herself!!!

Well for starters, she needs to show the clip of the “security guy”, who led the bad actors, all the way up the stairs!! That’s what really happened!!

At this point I don’t know how anyone can take anything seriously that comes from either the Congress, the rest of the government, or the corporate news media.

Trump called for peace in his speech before the incident. All of right stream media showed it. How has the left not seen the whole speech he gave. MSM needs to start showing the public more than their narrative.
