MTG calls AOC ‘little communist’ at Trump rally, questions whether she’s an American – Ocasio-Cortez claps back

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene wasted no time taking jabs at her Democrat colleague, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez in her opening remarks Saturday at former President Trump’s first rally since his White House departure.

Greene referred to Ocasio-Cortez as “the little communist from New York City” at the rally in Wellington, Ohio and the crowd booed the Democratic Congresswoman.

“Yeah, lock her up too. That’s a good idea. She’s not an American. She really doesn’t embrace our American ways. Not at all,”  Greene continued.

For the record, AOC was born in the Bronx to parents who are American citizens. Her father also from the Bronx and her mother is from Puerto Rico.

Listen to the crowd reaction when Greene mentioned her name:

The best Ocasio-Cortez could do was to remark on the physical differences between the two.

“First of all, I’m taller than her,” the self-proclaimed democratic socialist hit back on Twitter.

Greene’s comments are receiving some backlash from media outlets and social media users as rooted in racism though they were likely aimed at AOC’s particular brand of politics.

The policies of socialism, massive welfare expansion, expansion of federal power at the local level and the Green New Deal,  all of which Ocasio-Cortez embraces, don’t exactly align with traditional American values.

Last month, Greene reportedly followed Ocasio-Cortez through the halls of the Capitol, screaming questions at her that were met with silence: “You don’t care about the American people. Why do you support terrorists and Antifa?”

“I refuse to allow young women, people of color, people who are standing up for what they believe to see this kind of intimidation attempts by a person who supports white supremacists in our nation’s Capitol. I’m not going to let kids see that we’re going to be intimidated out of our fight for justice,” the New York lawmaker told reporters, addressing the incident.

In April, Greene challenged her Democratic colleague to a debate on the merits of the Green New Deal after the Democrat said climate change was the result of racism on the House floor.

“She’s a chicken. She doesn’t want to debate. I don’t think the debate has been agreed to yet,” Greene told reporters.

Ocasio-Cortez’s office has responded to Greene’s provocation in the past by calling on congressional authorities to protect members of Congress and foster a climate for safe debate. It is unclear whether or not the Democrat’s team will renew those calls following Greene’s most recent comments.

Social media users took note of a certain peculiarity in Ocasio-Cortez’s push back, as seen here:
