Marjorie Taylor Greene ‘outraged and very angry’ by language about women in infrastructure bill

Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene (GA-14) joined Fox News Channel’s Tucker Carlson last night to discuss an egregious measure she found in Democrats’ infrastructure proposal.

Greene is frequently in the spotlight for saying what other lawmakers in Congress are too afraid to and did not shy away from sharing how she was offended by a subsection in a Democrat-proposed infrastructure plan that categorizes women as minorities.

The controversial segment reads, “Women shall be presumed to be socially and economically disadvantaged individuals for the purposes of this subsection.”

Greene told Carlson that she was “outraged and very angry” to find out that she was considered a “victim” through the eyes of this bill.

“I’m probably one of the only members of Congress that owns a women-owned construction company. I’ve been successful in 11 states, we’ve done a lot of money in revenue, I can say a lot more than the federal government, and we know how to turn a profit, not a loss,” she said.

The congresswoman explained that she has never considered herself disadvantaged, saying, “ I can tell you as a member of Congress who’s been successful in business, I’m not only surprised, I’m very angered to be considered in a category that is socially and economically disadvantaged because as a matter of fact, I don’t consider myself that way at all.”

Greene touted the freedoms that allow hard-working women to be successful without being labeled “victims” and given handouts by the government.

“I consider myself one of the luckiest women on the planet because I’m an American woman and I live in a country where, through hard work, I can be successful and that’s exactly what we’ve done in our family construction business that is women-owned. And so for Democrats to treat women and put us down in a category where we have to be a victim in order to succeed, I find that insulting, and I see it as a continuation of the Democrats’ war on women,” she added.

Carlson noted that women actually make up the majority of the American population and asked how you could have an oppressed minority that’s actually the majority.

The congresswoman replied that it did not make any sense, but it’s a means to an end for Democrats’ agenda.

“This is how Democrats achieve their agenda. They have to divide everyone up into some sort of political identity whether you’re a woman, you’re LGBTQ, XYZ, whatever, transgender, Black, Hispanic, Asian. They have to divide everyone up, they have to give you the message that you’re a victim and you can’t be successful unless you’re using their policy or their government program that they’re going to provide to you at a cost to the American taxpayers and that’s how you will be successful,” she contended.

Greene went on to make an astute point that the American dream is dead for Democrats, they don’t believe in independence and hard work, much less self-made success.

“You see they don’t believe in individual rights, they don’t believe in our freedoms and they don’t believe in Americans’ independent will and hard work to be successful. That’s not who the Democrat party is,” she said.

“They’re the party of socialism and that’s why in every single bill I read — and believe me I read ‘em — because as a business owner, I’m used to actually reading contracts and reading information in anything I sign my name on,” she explained.

Democrats are aiming for the redistribution of wealth through this subsection measure according to Greene.

“That’s why in this transportation bill, I was completely shocked and angered and insulted frankly, as a woman who has been in the construction industry…What they want is they want a transfer of wealth and they don’t want to give contracts to transportation companies, to trucking companies, to paving companies that are able to actually do the job and do the job well,” she told Carlson. “They want to provide it to minority-owned companies or woman-owned companies who they consider are socially and economically disadvantaged and this is everything that’s wrong with the Democrats’ policies and that’s why I’m very much against this.”

Carlson aptly concluded the segment by calling out the hypocrisy of the well-to-do women who signed on to the bill. “The party of rich ladies telling you that ladies are oppressed, I love it”,  he cackled, “I can’t believe you read the bill, boy  you are new to this.”

The Fox News team did some digging and found that “many government laws assume that women, the majority of the American population, are ‘economically disadvantaged,’” according to Carlson.

The behemoth infrastructure plan is a bad deal for hard-working Americans who will carry the cost of this plan on their backs.

Not to mention, President Biden already said he will not sign any deal until his full agenda reaches his desk, including the American Families Plan. Biden’s full agenda will likely only pass through the reconciliation process.
